Nigel, I seemed to have solved my problems relating to missing images. My final step was to add a soundtrack directly from a CD. When I showed the completed multiple slideshows on my TV everything worked well except on all but one of the five slideshows the music kept "hesitating" every five or ten seconds (in other words, it doesn't play smoothly through the entire track). Is there a simple explanation for this?

Hi

Is there anything different about the project that stutters? E.g. video content or many image motion effects?

Have you tried specifying the highest quality encoding option (using the Alternate encoder) on Step 2 of the "Burn Disk" wizard?

Also, try going into View > Options, Advanced and changing the DVD MPEG Audio Setting as that can affect playback on some players.

Failing that you could try going into View > Options, Folders, Advanced Options, Compatibility and changing the "Convert Audio Files" format to WAV. Then when you rip a CD it will be saved as a WAV file and may give a better result when burning.
