Very frustrating. When using the internal SMTP server what set up or configuration steps do we need to complete ASIDE from designating the we wish to use the internal SMTP.

Cant find anything on site that state clearly what set-up we need to do within MLK. We spoke to broadband provider and port 25 is NOT blocked yet we are getting error code 10004 when testing sending from internal smtp.

Hi Mike

You are facing the biggest headache with using a local mail server. Configuration of the server is easy, but due to spammers you need to jump through a few hoops to avoid being blocked by your network and/or ISP.

Winsock Error #10004: Interrupted Function Call -- A blocking operation was cancelled.

This error is quite generic and covers a wide range of situations where your delivery was terminated before it reached the destination (remember that the internal server is not generating the error itself, just reporting it back).

Often (particularly when it occurs intermittently) it is due to an anti-virus product that is intercepting the messages that MLK is sending (in particular if you are using Norton you need to disable the worm blocking option).

It is also possible your ISP is doing something to block local mail servers. 10004 errors are common if your sending is rejected because your IP address is listed on a blacklist, such as Spamhaus.

Nigel -

I'll call broadband provider. With respect to disabling worm blocking I couldnt find any such setting in Norton which I use for anti-virus so I disable Norton all together and the problem persist.

Disabling norton all together should rule out worm as the culprit - you agree? I completely turned off anti virus during test.

Yes, if Norton is disabled then it is most likely to be with your ISP.
