Hi
Thank you to everyone who participated in the DVD PixPlay Survey 2009 to help us decide on what features to add to coming releases.
We have reviewed all of the comments and compliments that you have made.
Some of the requested features are already possible. I have provided details on these below:
> 16x9 or 4x3 screen option
When you select File > Burn Slideshow, click the TV format button and choose "Widescreen"
> Ability to move image by typing in new location number (not by dragging/cut-paste)
In v5 you can right-click frames and specify a new location for them.
> Ability to put the file name in the slide automatically. > date stamping
You can do this with frame captions: Edit > Slideshow, Frame Captions
> Ability to review slideshow by chapter rather than starting at beginning each time > be able to enter/exit preview @ any point
You can preview from the current position by enabling the relevant setting under View > Options, Previewing.
You can navigate by chapters using the PageUp/Down keys
You can exit at any point by clicking Esc
> Ability to use PPT files
Available in the Professional version.
> Able to use WMF files
WMF has always been supported
> Add Windows media Video WMV files
Added in v5.03
> Add WMA as music source
Added in v4.0
> Allow full text editing on title slides, as in a Word document. > I would like to be able to insert text boxes in slideshow pics
Select Edit > Add Text and Clip Art
> Change prog. name to something less naff!
Ouch! ;-)
> Convert to AVI file
Already possible. Select File > Burn Slideshow, choose the Video file option and then select AVI format.
> Create Menus > multiple slide shows on disc
Added in v4.0
> I like to edit pictures in Photoshop
Specify Photoshop as your editor under View > Options, Other.
> I recently upgraded to the new version and I can't see what changes you made to this application!
Please go to: www.xequte.com/pixplay/changes.html
> I would like to see "updated" transition motions for between the pictures, such as balloons flying off and hearts, etc
We added a lot more transitions with v5 and have more coming.
> I would to include my own music if possible
Sure, specify it under Edit > Slideshow, Background Music.
> If I use el cheapo generic DVDs I sometimes get a bad burn. If I use name brand DVDs usually I get 100% burns.
There's a less in there somewhere ;-)
> It appears that I cannot play my slide shows unless I have the latest updated version of your product. Is this correct? IF so, then this is a rip-off.
No, that is certainly not the case. Email sales@xequte.com if you are having problems.
> It is quite important to be able to present a title page even though the show starts with videos.
Improvements in this area are planned. But the easy way around this is to use the "Multiple Slideshow" function. Then you can have a menu (as a title page) which points to each of your videos.
> Multi Session Please
Multisession disks are not supported by many DVD players, so allowing users to create them would mean your disks were much less compatible.
> Multiple photos in one frame
You can do this using the "Insert Title Page" function. Click "Insert Clip Art", then "Browse" and choose the images to add.
> narration using a microphone
Already possible. Select Edit > Slideshow, Background Music and click "Record Now"
> Perhaps the software could clean up the temporary files automatically
It does delete all temporary files automatically, but keeps some files that can be useful (i.e. because it speeds up display or returning later on). You can remove the latter by selecting View > Options, Folders and clicking the "Clean Up" button.
> PixPlay has proved to be very helpful. However I would be interested in upgrading BUT the last time you sent me details you only gave me ONE day in which to accept the special deal.
We try to give around 5-7 days to upgrade for a discount, but if you just miss it you should email us.
> Replace video soundtrack with own audio file(s)
You can do this under Edit > Slideshow, Background Music
> Save and send slideshow via email
Select File > Email Slideshow
> Showing a line crawling across part of a map
I would expect you can do this already by having a before and after image and using a horizontal reveal transition.
> So far I enjoy the product. I would always like to be informed about new editions or upgrades and how I can get them.
As you have purchased you are already on our list. Other users can sign up at:
www.xequte.com/mailinglist/
> Thought and text balloons for inserting funny remarks etc
Click Edit > Add Text and then "Insert Shape". There are speech and though bubbles available.
> use of a CD-R disc - these are less expensive.
That is possible. You can output any of the VCD formats to a CD-R disk. DVD format can also be written to a CD-R disk but some players may not like it.
> Volume adjustment on Music
This is available when previewing or viewing a PC format slideshow. You can either right-click on the frame or use the shortcuts:
M Mute - Decrease volume + Increase volume
> Wanted to upgrade, but after checking out the discussion forum, I'm scared to upgrade, for there seems to be a lot of 'growing pains' with the newer versions.
The forum does not give an accurate representation of software quality as it is mainly frequented by users having problems. V5 has had lower technical support volume than earlier releases, in other words, it is a more stable release.
> When pictures are used to make DVD a portion of the picture on the top and bottom is lost. Most likely this is due to the image being "Auto-cropped"
Select Frame > Frame Properties and disable the "Automatic Cropping" option on the "Remove Borders" tab.
It is also possible that your TV does not display the full frame of the slideshow.
Suggestions that are on the to-do list: - A means to 'normalise' the volume of music so that you don't have to keep adjusting it when showing your pictures - A slicker way of finding files which maybe on external hard drives. - Ability to overlay embossed "copyright" wording - Allow Arabic language - Borders - Display a photo less than 1 second, say ½ second - PC format for multiple slideshow disks - print thumbnails - Talk bubble shape that auto accept text

With regard to enhancements I wonder if you can initiate a shape containing text to pop up when it is transversed by the cursor.
i.e. if you had a photo with a number of people in it e.g. school form photo, football team photo you can pop up the name of the person as the cursor passes over the individual. |
