New user, not very experienced in photo stuff on computer. Father died, did a Powerpoint for his service. Wanted to convert it to video, so I bought the 4.10 Professional edition. That failed. Decided to simply rebuild slide show using this software (18 minutes long). Finally got everything loaded in and tried to copy it to DVD. When formatting, the process continually stops at the same area of the presentation telling me there is a problem with the text at a certain picture. Deleted text and rewrote it, same problem. Deleted picture and reloaded it with new text, same problem. Changed picture order, same problem. Deleted picture prior, same problem. This is an important picture. Yes, I have a DVD writer, and it has successfully written to the DVD up to the point of the problem. Also, it copied this picture to DVD before because I actually got it up to the 120th frame (which took 45 minutes!) before I got another error message. I sat up all night, repeatedly trying to get this done for a trip to my brother's, but after I fix one photo (and another 45 minutes), there would be a problem with image #122! I am so frustrated with this software. Children in school make slideshows, why is this so hard, and why isn't my music attached to certain images, like PowerPoint? If I want the music to play for a certain section of images before starting the next song, I have to manually adjust the time of each image to match the song, and I have to start the entire presentation from the beginning to see if my 3-second adjustment at image #125 worked. Also, why must my text be on the picture and not in the surrounding frame? It's very difficult to find the right color for the text when writing over a photo. There must be an easier way.  |

You have asked many questions and have not stated if you had read the help sections for this program. So I believe it is best to start slowly and do things one step at a time.
You satated "did a Powerpoint for his service. Wanted to convert it to video, so I bought the 4.10 Professional edition." Please click on the following link and follow this procedure for making a POWERPOINT PRESENTATION and report back how this worked for you.

Sorry to hear of your frustration. Please see my responses to your questions below...
When formatting, the process continually stops at the same area of the presentation telling me there is a problem with the text at a certain picture.
Is the error "Image with Text" creation error (or similar)? This error occurs when manipulating very large images and your system runs out of resources. Typically these are high definition images from a digital camera (e.g. JPEG images of more than 3 MB).
Try going into View>Options, Other, Advanced, "Compatibility" tab and check the option "Limit the size of memory bitmaps"
If that does not help you could reduce your images in size (with an image editor or batch conversion tool) before adding them to your DVD PixPlay project.
Why isn't my music attached to certain images, like PowerPoint? If I want the music to play for a certain section of images before starting the next song, I have to manually adjust the time of each image to match the song

The other option is to add a "title page" and then adding your image to it (click Clip Art and then Browse). You can then position your image and text as desired.

Thanks for the reply. I did check out the FAQs after my first posting, and I was successful in attaching certain songs to specific frames. Yeah!
I have 145 frames with 8 songs, and I think I'm ready to burn the DVD. All of the photos (7) on which it stopped processing last time were used to make a "dummy" video, and they processed through without a problem, so I am hoping they will be okay this time around. Two of those pictures were larger, but the others were simple photos or a letter size document.
Wish me luck, although I will do this tomorrow, as it takes about an hour to process before it is ready to burn. Thanks for the info. |

Thanks for the help. I was able to format successfully that next day, and the DVD looks GREAT! I know my Dad would be pleased. Thanks again.
A couple of suggestions:
1. Not having to write on the photo, but with a caption.
2. An ability to outline the text, because it looks great on the computer monitor, but when viewed on the TV, the text is blurry. (PowerPoint has this capability).
3. An ability to review it by chapter instead of having to run through the entire program when building it.
Overall satisfaction score on a scale of 1 to 10 - a 7! |

Hi
Thank you for your compliments  Regarding your suggestions:
1. You can currently do this by inserting a title frame and then your image as "clip art". However it is not as easy as it should be and we plan to improve this for a later update
2. More text formatting options are planned
3. If you go into View > Options, you can disable the option to always start the preview from the start
