Hi Everyone,
I have just completed and burned a DVD-R Central America 1600 photo Slide Show. My wife says it is far too long; no one will ever sit through it.

Can I shorten it ??
I do not have all the photos saved, especially the one I added text to etc.
Can I retrieve them from Burned DVD, delete some and then burn it again with less pictures ???

Regards,
Dennis

Hi Dennis

If you burnt our slideshow in PC or DVD + PC format then you can retrieve your images. If you only used DVD format then there is no practical way to retrieve them. You can confirm this by looking at the disk with Windows Explorer. If it contains a "Pxp_Files" folder then you are in luck.

Hi Nigel,
Nope not so lucky.
But, I do see that options after I click on Burn.
For the future thank you.

Where will the pictures be saved or will the entire show be saved as a package and where ?

Regards,
Dennis (All 4 of us here in PEI are loving your program and I think you will get another sale after fy showing last night of Central America.)

Hi Dennis

Thank you for telling your friends about PixPlay

When you choose the PC or PC + DVD format it includes a PXP_Files folder which contains all of the images and videos of your project.

However I would also recommend you always keep a copy of your project folder (i.e. in DVD PixPlay Projects of My Documents).

Hi Nigel,
I am asking on behalf of a couple of users here.
We can't seem to keep a back -up on C drive.

I just did as you said and asked to have it saved to C/My New Slide Shows/DVD Pix Projects/Souvenir 2009.

The burn is 100%.
But when I go into that file on C drive there are 6 video files:
Strange names like:
Video_TS.BUP

VTS_01_1.VOB

Etc. 6 of them all different.
The audi file is empty.
So, we are totally confused.

When the burn is done, did you mean I should click "Previous" and put the BULLETT in C:\New SLIDE SHOWS\DVD PixPlay Projects\Guest Souvenir 2009 ??

Or should that just be happening automatically when I have selected PC + DVD before the burn ??

Sorry to be such a pain,
Dennis

Hi Dennis

You are confusing the project files and the output (slideshow) files.

When you create a slideshow project, PixPlay saves files for that project (project settings files, title pages, etc) in a folder in My Documents, e.g. on XP it might be My Documents\DVD PixPlay Projects\My Slideshow.

These are the files you should back up in case you ever want to edit your project in the future.

When you select File > Burn Slideshow you are given the option to save your project to a folder on your computer (which is what you are referring to). By default this is C:\My Slideshow\

Because you chose DVD format that folder only contains DVD video folders (VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) and associated files.

Hi,
So Nigel, when I am on the File, Burn last stage of process the dot can only go in the Burn Slide show directly to DVD or Save Slide show to folder.

I cannot put the bullet in both.
So I am in Combined DVD and PC Format: so where does the bullet go ??

I presume these files: VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS) and associated files etc. are not the ones containing the information ??

Sorry Dennis, what do you mean by the "bullet"?

Are you trying to use a bullet character in a filename?

No worries Nigel,
The bullett is the black dot you put inside a circle when given a choice of things you want to do.

Burn Slide Show to Disk:

Select the slideshow format:
And I have chosen Combined DVD and PC Format as you told me to do.

Click Next
Click next again:

Slideshow Output
Select Your Destination:
o Burn to DVD
o Save Slide show to Folder

You cannot put dot or bullett in both circles.
It will only stay in one or the other.

So, back to my original question: How do I burn to DVD and still have all the content saved somewhere my computer in a file for further use ?? For example I wanted to go back in and shorten a 1600 photo slide show that I created and burned but all is gone except for the DVD it created. DVD is fine but my family is telling me it is tooo long.
That is why I want this answer for future use !!

If I am driving you buggie just say so.

Have a look at my response to your Missing photos thread I think that may answer your question.

Hi Dennis

PixPlay assumes you either want to burn the slideshow to a disk OR save it to a folder (to burn it with another program). Not both.

If you want a back up of your project and image files on the disk:

Choose DVD + PC format, and select the burn option. There will be a PXP_Files folder that contains the project and all its files

If you want a back up of your project and image files on your computer:

Copy the "DVD PixPlay Projects" folder from "My Documents" to another location.
