I've been having all sorts of problems because of the 50 limit imposed by my ISP, so I signed up for AuthSMTP as recommended here.
I found that I couldn't set the email account for OUTLOOK to use and don't want to use my default one.
So I tried using SMTP sending direct to AuthSMTP. Now I find that the emails haven't been personalized!
What do I do? Thanks, Graham. |

After lots of trial and error - well error actually, I'd add that although personalisation isn't picked up in the body of the message it is in the title line!
Now what do I do?
Thanks Graham.

Hi Graham
Can you be more specific. What fields are you inserting into the message body, and what is being received? Has it worked correctly in the past (i.e. before AuthSMTP)?

Yes, it has always worked fine in the past, when I used my own ISP and sent using OLE. The only field I am trying to insert is: %FirstName%
What is happening is the the output emails contain the phrase; Dear %FirstName%
Rather than; Dear Graham (or whatever)
With the AuthSMTP subscription to get round the 50 email limit of my ISP, I have to send using SMTP.
In desperation and while hoping that you'd get back to me, I tried putting the %FirstName% in the message title as well as the body of the message and MLK correctly processed the variable in the title but not the body.
I am using an older version of MLK (5.3) and did consider upgrading, though I am relucatant as this is the ONLY problem I have with the current set-up and I don't begrudge you the price but as I only use this for a charity I can justify the expense.
Thanks, Graham.

Hi Graham
It is possible there is an issue in that version. It's more than three years old now, so - to be honest - i can't remember.
I would recommend you email us for a free update to v5.36.
