why do some of those that receive my newsletters (sent by MailListKing) get nothing but Japanese like characters in the email I sent?

Hi Cindy

This is due to an issue in Microsoft Exchange (on the recipients end). You can resolve the problem by ensuring you specify the character encoding for the message.

To do this click the Edit button on the Message Sending Toolbar then specify your desired Encoding option. For those of us in the English speaking world it is Western European (Windows).

The issue has been discussed on our forum at:

Thank you for such a quick reply!

I did not even thing of look in the upper forum. I just figured all MLK questions should be in the MLK sub forum. 8o)

I am using v6.28R. After viewing the post you suggested, I finally found where to change to "Western European (Windows)".

At first it is set to "Default" and I can see a check mark before "Default". When I change it to "Western European (Windows)" and check again, nothing is checked. Does this mean it got changed?

Also, do I have to remember to do this every time I send an email to my list, or is there a way to set it permanently to "Western European (Windows)"?

Hi Cindy

Some members have encountered an issue in v6.28 where the encoding does not "stick".

I can send you a fixed version, or you can upgrade to the latest release:

I thought professional edition was the business edition and when the new release came out, the funds for an upgrade was not there. But looking over the upgrade page, I see that professional edition means personal edition. I think I will take the plunge and upgrade. The price for a personal upgrage is more in my budget. 8o)

Thank you so much for your help!

Hi Cindy

The personal edition lost some of the features of the Pro version, but it is largely the same.

Loose some features? Is there a list somewhere of the features I will loose? I would hate to loose one I am found of. 8o)

Hi Cindy

I'll have to look that up when we are back in the office.

I don't believe it is anything major.
