I should know by now Nigel but I don't! Why when I use the PixPlay VIEW feature to view high quality proof images combined as one proof sheet image on PixPlay do I get the top definition or resolution that my PC LCD monitor is capable of, which is acceptable to me . But when I use the PixPlay PREVIEW feature to show the image as a slide show or burn by image format to hard drive the image slideshow the images, and not only the proof sheet images, drop in definition well below my monitors top resolution and become what I would term fuzzy ? In the Pixplay image burning slide show settins I have left the reduce image size box un ticked. Can you tell me what is the maximum resolution for the images Pixplay image slideshow can output?

You generally do not need to concern yourself with the resolution of your input images.
DVD PixPlay converts your images into a video (because naturally that is the most compatible option with DVD players). Even DVD format video is only a maximum of 720 x 576 pixels, so generally all digital images will easily exceed these video output size.
If you are using DVD PixPlay to create a disk for DVD players, then the jpeg does not need to be very large. So as long as your image is larger than DVD format and you save at 80-90% quality it will be fine.
If you are creating disk for playback in other computers using the "Image Format" option in DVD PixPlay, then generally you want your images to be at least as big as your screen (i.e. a minimum 1024x768 pixels).
You should set this value to at least the size of most screens, plus another 50% if you are using image motion effects.

Many thanks Jim, so can we safely assume that the PixPlay image format output resolution may not be the maximum DVD standard 720x576 resolution. Roll on HD video slideshows!

Yes, DVD PixPlay will output at the highest quality resolution, which for PAL DVD is 720 x 576. But note that (for compatibility with DVD players) it is creating a movie of your slideshow rather than using still images, and DVD movie frames are not as crisp as a photo (even at equivalent resolution).
If you are only planning to playback on a PC use the Image format when burning to disk (or cover both bases with DVD + Images format). That should give you quality equivalent to your source images (assuming you are not using the option to rip the images in lower format - File>Burn Slideshow, Next, "Other Slideshow Settings").
