Posted - May 08 2009 : 04:58:07 I need help. I'm out of business with MLK. Can't send multiple mail. Regular e-mail works fine. MLK test mail works fine. Multiple mail produces socket error #10053.
Everything worked fine a couple of weeks ago. |

Posted - May 29 2009 : 12:30:43 Hi Sam
If MLK can send test messages, but not regular messages then clearly something on your system or ISP is intercepting based on Spam or worm blocking rules.
There is no configuration required in MailList King to use the internal mail server, but you need to check your ISP does not block port 25 and that nothing is blocking the internal server on your system:
http://www.xequte.com/support/maillistkingfaq.html#48
Change back to regular SMTP and then check the following:
1. Think very hard about what changed between when MLK worked correctly and when it stopped. E.g. did you change your firewall or a/v software?
2. You say MLK sends correctly if you send to a test recipient, but not to multiple recipients. If you send to a group that only contains one recipient, does it work?
3. I assume you did go into View > Options, Sending and try sending individual messages
4. Try going into View > Options, Sending, Other Sending Options, Advanced and change the "Identify software" option
5. Try changing the SMTP engine:
a. Run MLK and click Ctrl+Shift+I to display your key folders b. Check the settings folder and click OK c. CLOSE MAILLIST KING d. Double-click the settings.ini file to open it in Notepad e. Find the line: AlwaysUseMultiThreadSMTPEngine=False And change it to: AlwaysUseMultiThreadSMTPEngine=True f. Click Save
Also, if you have Outlook installed, see if you can get Outlook to send. You could then have MLK send its messages via Outlook.

Posted - May 29 2009 : 02:04:17 I thought it was working too because I was able to send mail at the time I wrote those words. Then, without any changes, I couln't send mail yesterday. My last attempt before I gave up was to see if using the MLK SMTP will work. But, it times out and doesn't make the connection.
The help notes doesn't have enough guidance, so I ask. Step by step, how to set options to send through your SMTP system? |

Posted - May 28 2009 : 20:05:49 Hi Sam
Sorry I thought you said earlier in this thread that you had resolved the problem by setting the mail encoding to default. Is that not the case?
> I checked the e-mail encoding drop-down menu and it was set at automatic. > I set it to default and it looks like everything is now okay. When a version is > updated, is this a setting set to "automatic" by the new version?

Posted - May 28 2009 : 15:20:38 I have come to the end of my rope. I just tried sending an e-mail to 27 addresses and i"m getting socket errors again. What good is this software if it doesn't work?
I have not heard from you about answer from logs already sent you. |

Posted - May 18 2009 : 02:53:19 I sent them several days ago. What e-mail should I have used if you didn't get them? |

Posted - May 18 2009 : 00:58:10 Hi Sam
We changed the initial option from Default to Automatic, because not setting the encoding can cause problems with MS Exchange servers.
I'd still be keen to see both of those logs. Please email them to me.

Posted - May 17 2009 : 11:03:13 When I ran the two MLK versions of the send log, I noticed that the only difference between them was one line of code that said "Encoding: windows-1252." So I checked the e-mail encoding drop-down menu and it was set at automatic. I set it to defaut and it looks like everything is now okay. When a version is updated, is this a setting set to "automatic" by the new version? |

Posted - May 14 2009 : 14:45:36 Hi Sam
If there was a major difference in sending functionality between v7 and v8 we would certainly have heard about it from customers.
This is not to say that there isn't some difference that could be causing incompatibility with your system/settings.
Please do identical sends from v7 and v8 using the same content and recipients and then send me the two different logs.

Posted - May 13 2009 : 08:56:21 The error we have been fighting is a MLK software error. Here's why. Start with this:
Date: 5/13/2009 10:43:34 AM Status: Completed Creation Date: 5/13/2009 10:43:21 AM Subject: Conservative Party Recipients: Members of the Group, "Test" Success Rate: 100% (9 of 9 recipients)
Summary: Your message to 9 recipients has been sent via your ISP's SMTP server.
This morning I turned on my remote hard disk used for backups and pulled up MLK version 7.3 and sent an e-mail to the test group. No problem as you can see from the above message.
Then I turned off remote hard disk and opened MLK version 8.5 and ran the test again. Result:
Date: 5/13/2009 10:50:04 AM Status: Error Encountered Creation Date: 5/13/2009 10:49:42 AM Subject: Conservative Party Recipients: MLK Success Rate: 0% (0 of 1 recipients)
Summary: An error was encountered sending your message. It was successfully sent to 0% of recipients (0 out of 1).
I checked the server settings and was not able to determine any differences.
Now what?

Posted - May 12 2009 : 01:30:04 Hi Sam
For my clarification, can you please select View > Options, Sending tab and send me a screen shot.
(To create a screenshot display the program with the problem visible then select PrintScreen (or PrtScr) on the top of your keyboard. Using Microsoft Word or an image editor such as Paint, select Paste. Save the file, if possible as a JPEG if you are using an image editor and send it to us)

Posted - May 11 2009 : 16:45:48 Dear Customer,
All of your tests look good. How many emails are you trying to send out? Is this all in one email with ccs and or bccs? I know our system will not allow more than 20 recipients in an email. Which email client do you use? Are you using POP3 or IMAP? With or with out SSL? Did you get a chance to make sure authentication is used for the outgoing server? Let me know if you need any assistance.
My answer: Sir,
I use Mail List King. Each member of my list belongs there...no spam. MLK doesn't use the CC: or BCC: approach. This is a professional mail list software setup. Authentication is checked. The user is mlk@cp-usa.org. The list is POP and SMTP. Not using SSL.
So, you are saying that BlueHost has not blocked my account.

Posted - May 11 2009 : 15:07:21 My ISP is BellSouth a subsidiary of AT&T. With the ISP arrangement, the account uses the AT&T Security Suite which has the Firewall, Anti-Virus, and Spyware. The Windows firewall is turned off.
Under View/Options, the "Send a separate message for each e-mail address" is checked.
If I pull up one MLK address account and send them an e-mail it goes. I created a one-address group, and if I send them (one-person group)an e-mail, it fails. |

Posted - May 11 2009 : 14:26:21 Hi Sam
Yes, that is very curious. I assume it is still the same 10053 error.
Under View > Options, Sending, are you sending to individual recipients? If you send from MLK normally, but the message only has one recipient do you get an error?
What are the firewall and anti-virus products you are using?

Posted - May 11 2009 : 10:21:44 I installed a new Linksys Dual Band "N" Router. Installed perfectly but didn't correct MLK problem. Checked all settings in MLK. E-mail setting is on "Send via a Mail Server (using SMTP). Sent test e-mail. No problem. Attempted to send group e-mail and it failed saying that it was unable to connect to the Internet.
How can MLK connect to the Internet to send a test e-mail with no problems, but not connect to send a group e-mail? |

Posted - May 11 2009 : 04:36:32 I don't understand. Although Thunderbird is my default e-mail program for my computer, I was using the SMTP server setting that is the one in the middle of the three selections. What software is that using? Microsoft Outlook?

Posted - May 11 2009 : 01:05:53 Hi Sam
I was thinking that you should just use the option to send via your email software, but as you are using Thunderbird, MLK could only send plain text messages.

Posted - May 10 2009 : 17:02:55 I use Thunderbird e-mail software. Eudora Pro converted to it some months ago. I used Eudora Pro for years, so all my correspondence went into the Thunderbird folders. I have had no problem with Thunderbird since I started using it. In fact, I like it very much now. |

Posted - May 10 2009 : 13:59:52 Hi Sam
The Com+ error is unlikely to affect MLK.
What is your email software?
I can send you the last version of MLK to test if you like. However i doubt it will resolve the problem as we did not make any changes to the SMTP engine for the latest release and have not had any other reports of such problems.
