That is odd as MPEG is PixPlay's native format. When you playback the MPEG video outside of PixPlay, i assume it plays back correctly?
Please e-mail me your log file
On Windows 7 and Vista:
C:\Users\ <YOUR WINDOWS LOGIN NAME> \AppData\Local\Xequte\DVD PixPlay\Logs\
On XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\ <YOUR WINDOWS LOGIN NAME> \Local Settings\Application Data\Xequte\DVD PixPlay\Logs\
Note: If you have Email Software you can do this quickly by selecting Help > Send Email to Support on the DVD PixPlay menu

It sounds like the video conversion is failing. Did you get any error message?
You could try going into View > Options, Sending, Folders, Advanced and changing the video conversion format.
Failing that you might want to convert the video to MPEG format prior to adding it to your project.
