Posted - Aug 20 2009 : 19:27:20 DVD PixPlay version 3.35. Video clips from my Canon digital camera are in AVI format. After editing these clips using Windows Movie Maker, and saving them as DV-AVI (NTSC), PixPlay no longer seems to recognize them. This is the only option in Movie Maker that uses an AVI extension. Am I missing something here? Is there another way to edit those AVI clips in a way that PixPlay can recognize? - Jim Archibald

Posted - Dec 09 2009 : 02:31:22 Hi
At this time DVD PixPlay does not support moving text, but it is something we are interested in doing in the future.
When exporting a project from PowerPoint into DVD PixPlay, your moving text will not be retained.

Q. Can I export a Power Point presentation to DVD PixPlay so I can play it on a DVD player?
A.Yes. The steps are as follows: i. Run Power Point and open your your presentation ii. Select File>Save As, then from the "Save as Type" box choose JPEG and click OK iii. Click Yes when asked to confirm that you want to export every slide
iv. Run DVD PixPlay and create a new project v. Click "Add Images" and browse to the folder where you saved the images from Power Point vi. Click "Add All" vii. Edit the project further if desired (e.g. add background music) viii. Click "Burn Disk" Regarding the moving text--DVD PixPlay does not support GIF files which I assume your text would be.

Posted - Dec 01 2009 : 13:42:26 Hi Lynda
Unfortunately there are not really instructions i can give you, as the problem is not in DVD PixPlay itself, but is returned by Windows when it is requested to playback the video file.
Windows is being asked to play a video file, and finds that it does not have the driver to know how to play it, so it returns an error.
Installing the codec should easily resolve the issue, so I'm not sure why it is failing on your system.
Did you try this codec:
http://www.free-codecs.com/Motion_JPEG_Codec_download.htm
Another option is to convert the video files before you use them in your project, e.g. to an MPEG or standard AVI file.

Posted - Oct 04 2009 : 13:51:19 Hi Lynda
Jim is correct, for previewing of videos (and background audio) DVD PixPlay relies on the Windows multimedia drivers. Digital camera videos are often in MJPEG format, which WIndows does not have a driver for. So if you reinstalled Windows you will need to reinstall the driver.
If installing a particular driver does not resolve the problem, then you should try a different driver.

For previewing of video and audio files DVD PixPlay uses the Windows drivers.
If your computer crashed did you restore these drivers? Go to START>MY COMPUTER (RIGHT CLICK AND SELECT PROPERTIES)>HARDWARE>DEVICE MANAGER>SOUND, VIDEO AND GAME CONTROLLER(RIGHT CLICK ON THE PLUS SIGN) and check for any missing drivers.

It should not do any harm to install all, but otherwise just the MJPEG codec.

Posted - Sep 13 2009 : 16:03:06 Hi Neil
DVD PixPlay will only preview videos if you have a codec (driver) installed for that video type. Most are already included with Windows, but unfortunately not one for MJPEG videos.
Try downloading and installing one of the codec packs again to get it.
Presently DVD PixPlay can only use the sound track of the videos in a slideshow if there are no images except after the final video. So to hear the video soundtrack you will need to do as follows: i. Select Edit>Other>Move Videos to Start ii. Select Edit>Select Background Music on the menu iii. On the dialog that is displayed choose the option to use the video soundtrack as the source of the slideshow sound (if you are presented with the usual background music dialog, rather than a window with the title "Video Soundtrack" then there are still images or title pages that are remaining in your project).
We will address this limitation for a coming update.

Posted - Sep 11 2009 : 11:35:03 Hi Nigel, Me again. I did burn just the videos and they worked but I would like to preview them when I assemble the show. Since all I see is the icon, it is easy to get them out of order; I did that. Also, I want the music to stop when the video comes on so I can hear the narration. On the one I just did the music stayed on overiding the audio. How do I mute the music for those videos? Thanks, Neil |

Posted - Sep 10 2009 : 15:18:45 Hi Neil
You should not need to convert your videos if the only error you get is "Cannot find vids: mjpg decompressor" You only need to install a driver so that DVD PixPlay can preview them (the codec packs just install multimedia drivers).
At any rate, you should be able to burn the video even if you do not have the driver (it is only used by DVD PixPlay for preview).

Posted - Sep 10 2009 : 12:40:55 Hi Nigel, I downloaded the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. Apparently conversion to the required format is not automatic; I got the same error and couldn't preview the clip. How do I then convert the clip to get it to run? Thanks, Neil Ober |

Posted - Sep 10 2009 : 02:42:48 Hi Neil
Your AVI videos are in Mjpeg format, so you will need to download an MJpeg codec to preview the slideshow (NOTE: The codec is not required to burn the slideshow to disk. It is only used when previewing).
Some popular commercial ones can be obtained from:
http://www.mainconcept.com/codecs.shtml http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/technicalsV3.htm http://www.pegasusimaging.com/picvideomjpeg.htm
You can also get the codec free by downloading the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack:
http://www.codecpackguide.com/klmcodec.htm
or at:
