I've been replaying my DVD and notice square boxes of different colors that appear on my TV screen (not HDTV). When I replay on my computer, there does not seem to be a problem. It does not happen very often, maybe on 1 out of 10 slide. The "noise" appear when the slides transition, and not when displaying. They do not seem like they are always in the same location, sometimes, they look like moving tiles. I have not tried on another DVD.

Is it my DVD player or TV? Could I be inviting problems when I have a 5sec, no motion slide, 3sec Fade Out Transition? I could try a No Fade, but didn't want to waste a burn. Would extending the Transitions time make for a smoother display?

Try changing your output quality to "Highest with Alternate Encoder (very slow)" that should do it.

My original slideshow took about 30min to burn, since changing to no motion and fade out on transition. However, I got tiles displying on the TV.

Next, changed from standard to Highest, time went to 1hr 15m, but I still saw some tile noise.

Changed to te Alternate Encoder, took 2.5hr, and everything looked so much cleaner. I did not notice if the slides themselves got any better, or more contrast and color.

Jim, is this a hit-miss type of issue? What are the specific differences that each of the 3 recording styles use. I notice that the input and output frames remained the same.

Hi Anuhea2

PixPlay has a secondary MPEG encoder that while slower can resolve encoding issues that occassionally happen. This encoder is only used when the "Using Alternate Encoder" option is selected.

Because of its slowness it is not recommended unless a specfic issue is encountered.

Thanks for the feedback. The output from the Alternate was very good, so much better than standard... The individual slide quality was not better, but the tile noises were very annoying.

I guess I'm done with my current project....will be checking back to see how others are doing and to get more tips for the next project. Can now spend time "playing" with some of the various options and waiting for any product improvements....
