NOTE: I copy the images used to the project folder.
To add images when I use the 'Add images' button the filenames are truncated to 12 characters. Thus I can not distinguish between similar images such as 080803_090200S75M0H25.jpg and 080803_090200S75.jpg or between 080803_093106.jpg and 080803_093107.jpg. [I keep the original in case I want to try a better 'improvement'].
Within the project I can view the full filename either with large enough thumbnails or with > view > full details and adjusting the column widths appropriately.
Is it possible to do either of these with the Add Images window?
An alternative solution would be for files to be copied when using drag and drop additions from Windows Explorer as they are when using the 'Add Images' button.
I can't reproduce this. In Add Images and the main window you can drag files from Windows Explorer and drop them onto PixPlay to add them to your project.
Sorry, but I don't know what you cannot reproduce.
I have re-read this thread and a re-write of the problem follows.
I normally start with a blank canvas, i.e. New Project but without using the wizard.
To add images I use the Add Images button. The Add Images window includes thumbnails as an aid to selection. This action, with the appropriate settings, also copies the selected images to the project folder. Unfortunately the thumbnail label is truncated to 12 characters.
When adding from Explorer by drag and drop there are two problems. Firstly there are no thumbnails to aid selection, and secondly the image files are not copied to the project folder. [Your earlier comment "The same action should occur. I'll investigate for v4.02."]
Your other suggestion "For the next release I'll check to ensure that the full filename is displayed when hovering over the thumbnail" would overcome these difficulties
I missed a critical point that you were making; PixPlay is not following the same rules regarding copying files to the project folder as when using Add Images. We'll add that to v4.03.
FYI we've added hover hints to the Add Images dialog to display the full filename.
