Since installing V4.0 I've just attempted to burn disk for a recently created program. However after three attempts I contunue to get the error that the "Burn Command Failed". Need your assistance. Thanks |

Please tell us what steps you took to Burn the disc. When did you get the error "Burn Command Failed"? The more information you give the better the chances of solving your problem.

Hi Jim;
After inserting a blank CD I did the ususal "Burn Disk" selections in VCD format. The Processing started creating Output Frames but stopped at 19,400. However the program continued to run, completing 2 of 4 Tasks then attempting to "Burn". It took about 22 minutes.
No Multiplexing was noticed. Then the Error pop-up displayed with the Error: CS Start Burn_SCST Transport ASPI::Execute CDB[]: Command Failed.
The program contains: Images 224; Duration 26min 7 sec; VCD 260MB; Transigions 51; Motion None; Music 7 at 28min 49sec.
Three burn attempts failed.
Since sending the previous message, I tried it in "Test" and the program created the file and played it bakc using "Media Player". However, I did not attempt to "Burn" a CD.
In addition I emailed the Process Log file and some Powerpoint screen shots to Nigel a little earlier. If you wish I can also send these to you. Regards,

The fact that it plays and shows correctly in Windows Media Player would indicate that the burning process is working correctly in DVD PIXPLAY. Creating a twenty six minute video can require a lot of CPU and Memory time ---so it could be your computer is locking up, but since you sent that info to Nigel we should wait for his analysis.

Hi
"Execute CDB[]: Command Failed" errors with CD disks can usually be resolved by changing the burn method.
On the last step of the Burn Slideshow wizard (where you can select your burner) click the Advanced button and select a different Burn Mode.
Let me if know if that resolves the problem.

If you are using Windows 2000, XP or Vista, try going into View>Options, Other, Advanced and changing the "Use SPTI for Burning" setting.
From my experience burning CD's your CD recordings will be much more likely to be universally readable if recorded in the disk at once mode rather than the default track at once.
BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION !

I have just bought DVD pixplay version 4 after a short trial it seemed perfect for our needs. we created a short trial(19min. 120 file slide show) perfect- delighted, since then we have wasted over 14 disks trying to burn a 320 file slideshow which is just under one hour long,the software goes right through the creating, multiplexing, vobu stages and onto the burn stage at 90% it reports "cdvd burner grabber track at once from tree tree0 failed exception 8 status2 text cstar_ burn scsi transport spti:: execute cdbo command failed"
This seems to be a problem that other people are having! is there a solution or is it time to demand a refund !!! I tried to email the support line with no luck, if I just want to save the project to a file- no problem, its if I want to burm a copy- IT WON'T ! Answers from anyone would be appreciated. Mikem

I can't find any messages from a "Mike Jones", so if you have sent me a log, please resend it.
Regarding the error, if it occurs when burning a CD disk then you can usually resolve it by changing the write mode. If you are burning a DVD then we need to investigate it in more depth.

Thankyou Nigel for your speedy reply. I have only used good quality DVD's and I have never tried CD's with the software. We think the programs great in its simplicity of use, low cost etc. and we really want it to work- but it won't!

First, you do not have to waste any dvd's if you click on the TEST BUTTON. If the test does not run successfully than there is no reason to complete the BURN.
Second, you made a good dvd the first time you tried the program---so did you make and changes to the options since than?
Third, what are the SPEED, MEMORY AND OPERATING SYSTEM for your computer?
Fourth, make sure the burning communication option is set for SPTI. VIEW>OPTIONS>OTHER OPTIONS>ADVANCE OPTIONS>COMPATIBLITY-- UNDER DISK BURNING COMMUNICATIONS SELECT SPTI
Fifth, try burning the slideshow again and if it fails than do the following: Please e-mail Nigel the following file:
C:\Program Files\DVD PixPlay\PixPlayLog.txt
Once we have this information we can begin to solve the problem.

Hi Jim; I'm still having problems "Burning" even after making some recommended changes, but I have been communicating with Nigel.
However after reading this post, I looked at my settings and the "Disk Burning Communications" window is not in "highlight" but greyed-out. It reads "ASPI (Windows98)". Is this significant? If SPTI is an option I certainly cannot access it. I am still running WindowsME. Regards,

To the right of DISK BURNING COMMUNICATIONS there should be a drop down box with three options
SPTI (RECOMMENDED) ASPI (WINDOWS 98) SPT DIRECT
Since you are running WINDOWS ME ---YOU SHOULD CHECK WITH NIGEL TO SEE IF IT IS CAPABLE OF RUNNING DVD PIXPLAY 4.0
You should probably select(CLICK ON) ASPI and give that a try !!! !!

Thanks for the info...Maybe I should try reinstalling V3.5 to see if it "Burns" Ok. And if it works I'll stay on 3.5 until I sart using another PC running WindowsXP. Regards,

You are extremely unlikely to see any difference in burning VCD's in v3.35 or v4.0, simply because we have made zero changes in that area of the program. It's the same code, so from a programmatic perspective all else being equal the output should be the same.
The important part there of course is all else being equal, perhaps there is some change in settings or disk types that is causing the issue.
Please do try using all the burn write modes that you have not tried yet. Also burn at a slightly slower speed.
If you still have problems let me know and we will email you the install for v3.35 and we'll see if that makes any difference.
Another option is that we can debug log the burning to try and determine why it is failing, but as we are expecting a new release of the burning library in the next week or so, it is best we leave that until v4.01.

Try this: click on the start button on the my computer icon-- right mouse click and chose Poperties select hardware tab select device manager button CLICK ON THE PLUS SIGN IN FRONT OF EACH ITEM
Are there any red x's or yellow exclamation points?

I took a look at the "Device Manager" as suggested..In the Universal Serial Bus controllers, there was a red X over one USB Symbol named "Unknown Device". The other four USBs were fine as were all other devices. Regards,

I just tried burning a photo slide show to DVD and got the same error message that others have reported (cstar_ burn scsi transport spti:: execute cdbo command failed).
I was able to step back and copy the show's files to my hard drive; and using 'InfraRecorder', an ISO burning program, I was able successfully to make the disk.
I think the problem may have been a bad disk. I'd like to try using PixPlay with the same set of files but a new DVD, but there doesn't seem to be a way to burn a DVD from those already-prepared files within PixPlay. Am I missing something? |

You will need to burn again using File>Burn Slideshow.
Regarding the error, try using the options specified above, such as using SPT Direct burning.
We will be releasing v4.01 before too long which we hope will address these obscure burning issues.
