I have just recently begun using MailList King and don't know how to diagnose a serious problem with some addresses not receiving mailings. I am using MailList King tightly integrated with Outlook. In particular the primary mailing list comes straight from an Outlook distribution list with some 2440 members (though many of the e-mail address are out of date and now bogus.)

Prepartory to the first mailing to this primary list I sent twenty or so test mailings to much smaller lists, and everything worked as desired and expected. When I finally sent a test mailing to the primary list, I sent batches of 99 messages -- smaller than the semi-manual batches that I had been sending before switching to MailList King. The MailList King log file indicated that the mailing was sent without a hitch, and I soon got many acknowledgments from members of the mailing list. But I also soon found a few (including myself at a couple of different e-mail addresses!) who did not get the test message. When I went to check the 25 actual mail messages in the Outlook Sent Items folder I was surprised and dismayed to find none of them were there, even though in all of the earlier tests all the sent mails did indeed appear in the Sent Items folder.

Suggestions as to how to proceed from here will be welcome. (I have checked with the ISP to make sure I did not inadvertently encounter some limit I did not know about, but that seems to be OK.)

Hi Robert

To clarify, the sending task was moved from the "Active Tasks" grid in the main window to the "Completed Tasks" one? What version of Outlook are you using?

Please also email me the log file for this sending task:

Run MLK and click Ctrl+Shift+I. Choose the option to display your database folder and then browse to the folder "SendLogs"

In that folder your log files are named "mail_sent_*.txt" with the date of the delivery included in the name. Find the files of the relevant date and send them to me.

Hi Robert

I snipped your post to protect your recipients' email addresses. It's best to email logs directly to us rather than list them here.

Regarding the issue, Outlook has definitely created your messages and i have never seen a situation where Outlook reports that messages were created successfully and hasn't done so. That means the problem exists elsewhere.

Firstly we need to determine why they aren't listed in your Sent Items folder:
- Go into MLK, View>Options, Sending, Settings and check you have not enabled the option for MLK to delete the messages it sends in Outlook
- Check other folders in Outlook, particularly, Drafts, Outbox and Deleted Items. Do a search for the email address across the whole personal folders tree

Thank you for removing the e-mail addresses. I was concerned about that but wanted to send the complete log.

I have checked the MLK Sending Settings to be sure that MLK is not instructed to delete the messages it sends. Indeed I sent some twenty small test messages (no more than 10 recipients, some with multiple BCC recipients, some individual recipients) and everyone of those messages is in the Sent Items folder to this moment.

The very first thing we did when we couldn't find the sent message was to search throughout the personal folders tree with no success!

In the meanwhile I have confirmed with the ISP (ReachONE) that we did not hit any of their limits on e-mail messages.

OK, try doing another test to see if you can reproduce the problem. If you need some of our test addresses to send to then drop me a line.

I would appreciate some additional test addresses. I have sent to various test lists, but with no more than 10 e-mail addresses. They all worked just fine. We try to limit messages to the main mailing list to no more than one per month, and a business announcement will have to be sent out in a week or two, so I am reluctant to send another test mailing.

This is an update to report there is finally success.

I performed major surgery on the Outlook Contacts folder and the Distribution List being used, switched to a different ISP and configured MLK to throttle the sending substantially, but it now appears to be working.

Thank you for the help with this.
