Hello Nigel, can you help me? I´ve changed my interment connection, now my new connection is faster than the old one, but I have been facing a problem, I can not send massages anymore. All attempting fails, no one succeed. But when I change the cables and go back to my previously connection, all works fine. But as soon as I move to the new connection, all error messages return too. I use the MLK Internal Server. What is wrong whit my new connection? Thank you.

Hi

Firstly, check that your new ISP does not block port 25 (which is used for server to server delivery).

Hi

Something will be blocking MLK from accessing the internet. Wbat else has changed since you went to the new ISP, e.g. did you need to install a new router? It may have an inbuilt firewall.

Please email me the log file for this sending task.

Run MLK and click Ctrl+Shift+I. Choose the option to display your database folder and then browse to the folder "SendLogs"

In that folder your log files are named "mail_sent_*.txt" with the date of the delivery included in the name. Find the files of the relevant date and send them to me.

Ok Nigel. When I changed my internet connection, I also change my Internet Host. I tranfered my domain www.estudiomix.com.br to another server. In addition, I had to install in my office an equipment called D-Link ADSL Router (DSL 500B)in order to get the internet signal from my telephone line. Some times now using the MLK Internal server an error show up (acess violation at address 0071BFO in module 'MLKing.exe'. Read of address 000000A7).

I´ve gennerated a log file related to this problem as you ask and already send to you at nigel@xequte.com. Thanks for your pattience.

Hi

As suspected the log shows the SMTP Server is being blocked. Unfortunately we are unable to tell from this end what it that is preventing MLK from accessing the Internet, but given the only things that have changed are your firewall and your ISP then check:

- Router: The router may have a built-in firewall, check it does not does not block port 25 or 53
- ISP: Although your ISP says they are not blocking port 25, try searching Google for your ISP + port + 25 + blocking

I talked to my router support and they send me a tutorial to open port 25 and port 53.I´ve followed the spets, but i continue having problem, the same error accour, I can´t send any massages from MLK Internal server. I was having doubts to fill some step on the router firewall. Here´s the way I configured:

Inside the Router/Advanced Setup/NAT/ADD. I put the following numbers:

1-On server IP Adress i put my IP (I´ve digited "ipcongif" on DOS and get that IP number) is that correct?

2-On External port star I´ve filled "25".

3-On External port end I've filled "25".

4-On Protocol I leave "TCP" but also it can be configured as "TCP/UPD.

That´s it. According to my router support, following this configuration i woul open the 25 port. But the problem persist.

What else can We check to solve this problem? Thank you.

Hi

That sounds correct.

Did you independently confirm your ISP's not blocking port 25?

Nigel, I think I know what is goig on. Even my ISP keep telling me that they are not blocking port 25, I was talking to a friend that owns a internt provider and he told me that my actual ISP is really bloking the port 25 to prevent spam massages. In that case I think the only way to solve this problem is using the port 53 right? this port according to my friend is available. How can i set up this configuration? Thanks.

Hi

I'm afraid if port 25 is blocked you simply cannot run a local mail server at all (as mail servers communicate with other mail servers only on port 25), that's why ISP's like to block it.

You'll need to either send via normal SMTP or sign up with a third party mail service such as www.authsmtp.com or Gmail.

Nigel, but I have instaled here an email client, outlook 2007. I used it from sent email with no problem, only the MLK is blocked. I´ve made a connective test here, I created an acount in a free e-mail website <www.bol.com.br> It servers uses the port 25. Then I configured it on Outlook and it works, well, worked more less, Everytime I try to send something, the massagem are not sent, but I recieved a warning from Bol servers reporting that my email is temporally suspense due to some kind of violation. But the point here is that my computer comunicated through port 25. What do you think? Thanks for your patience.

Hi

Are you saying you can use Outlook to send email to a mail server that is not your ISP's using port 25?

And if you use MLK to send to the same server using the same settings you get an error?

If so, please email me the sending log.

Yes Nigel, I am saying that. I can send email with outlook express and with a free e-mail acount wich uses port 25 on it, but I can not sent messages with MLK. I just sent you an email with a print screem of Outlook conf. and a MLK send log. Thank you.

Hi Robson

In MLK you are sending using the Internal SMTP Server, rather than using the SMTP sending option. If you use the SMTP sending option in MLK then you will invariably get the same result as when you send via Outlook.

However the fact that you are able to send to a different ISP's mail server over port 25 does mean that your ISP is not blocking that port.

From your log it is clear that something is definitely blocking MLK from accessing the net. Check the following:

Hi Nigel, sorry to disturb you again but I need to verify what´s wrong here. I have a list of 4 addresses that I settle to test the sending of messages, one of that addresses is a Gmail.com and it was sent using the internal MLK serves the other three was blocked, now I am even more confusing, because if my ISP, my rooter or my windows in some way is responsible of this continuing blocking of port 25, why an address was successful and the others not, the only thing different is the domain, on is Gmail e the other 3 is hotmail e yahoo. I´ve tried again with a large list of addresses and I star to receive an error message “access violation at address 008F7F3C in module ‘MLKing.exe’. Read of address 0000007A. I’ve already sent you a log send file. Please advice. Robson

Hi Robson

Your earlier tests already showed that port 25 was not being blocked.

Hotmail is quite well know for blocking delivery from local mail servers (such as MLK's Internal SMTP server) so for that domain you need to rely on MLK's option to resend to any failed recipients via normal SMTP.

Hello Nigel, good news. I did not make any changes in may router, windows firewall or ISP conection, but suddunly the internal email server of MLK started to work again, what could be the reason for that? Unfortunatley, for each 100 massages sent, just 10 is succesfull, but better this than nothing. My average rate of sucess is 10%. Is there something that I can make to boost this rate? I have been using the internal MLL server for about one week since than and it seens that the port 25 is not blocked anymore, what do you thing? thanks.
