I have a question about sharing the database on a network.
I have the business or corporate edition at work (can't recall which - and I'm at home right now so I can't check). We're going to be placing the database files in a centrally located directory so that two computers can access the files.
The question is... Are all of the list settings stored with the database files, or another location? In other words, if computer "B" loads a virgin copy of MLK and connects to the database that has been properly configured by computer "A", will it inherit the settings such as acknowledgements messages, etc.? Or will these have to be set up seperately on computer "B"?

As a followup to the above question...
Do you see any problem with both machines accessing the shared mailbox? Assuming the processed messages are moved to a new mailbox directory, the two copies of MLK shouldn't process a message twice - right?
The reason I am thinking of having the two computers running at the same time is:
1) one of the two computer owners in the office might away, and more importantly
2) we've been experiencing problems with computers freezing up when left running unattended for more than 12 hours.
Your thoughts?

Hi Ian
After you have moved the database to the shared network drive you want to go into View>Options, Other, Advanced (in MLK) and turn on the option "Use a Different Configuration for each Database". Then MLK will store the settings in a sub-folder of your database folder.
Turn on the same option on the second computer and connect to the database and it will share the database and settings.
Also, don't forget that you will need to turn on the database sharing option under View>Options, Other.

Nigel,
I'm having trouble getting the database sharing box to remain ticked. I've searched the previous solutions, altering the settings.ini file, but this doesn't solve the problem. Each time I tick the box, exit, then restart, the box is empty.
Suggestions?

That will be resolved in v7.11.
In the meantime display the Windows shortcut you use to run MLK and and /SHARE to it, e.g.
"C:\Program Files\MailList King\MLKing.exe" /SHARE

is it possible to do the same thing and share an MLK db from a web server?
and have MLK access the database remotely from a user/s computer?
is there adequate security to do this?
have you done it before?
im hoping this might be a solution to use the same MLK data from several different computers

thanks for letting me know, i was just about to spend a load of time trying to do it.
it will be a fantastic feature, glad its on the to do list, dont suppose you can say if it will in the next release?

That would be unlikely I'm afraid as the requirement has not rated particularly highly in our last two surveys.

thats a shame but fair enough.
i dont remember seeing it on the survey list though? 
i guess its probably a different group of users who would be interested than those who originally bought a desktop/outlook application.
it would make MLK a very powerful/useful web server app though and might open up a whole new userbase. windows dedicated servers are now a fraction of the cost they were a couple of years ago, especially with the option of cloud servers.
