When you are beginning a slideshow with a couple video clips followed by still images, should you choose "DVD and Image" format when burning the disk? I have had good luck with dvd player compatibility just using the regular "DVD" format and DVD-RW's, but wondered if I should choose the dvd and image format instead. If not, when should you use that one?
I tried to burn the same slideshow( videos first) with the VCD format on a CD-RW, and for the first time, my DVD player would not read the disk, although it would play on my computer. What is the reason for that happening?

DVD PixPlay can create a disk with a combined DVD and image format, however this poses a problem because when your player sees that the disk contains a DVD format it will always play that (i.e. you could not access the images)
If you were to create an image only format, your player could display the images on the disk, however the player would control how the images are displayed (i.e. you could not preset the transitions, motion effects, timing, etc).
PC's and Mac's do not have native support for playback of VCD format disks, so if you are creating a disk primarily for playback on computers you should use the Image or MPEG format options which will autoplay on almost all computer types.
If your target is primarily DVD players then you should use DVD format or one of the VCD formats. Most modern computers will include DVD playing software, however if you use VCD format then you will need to download a VCD player to view the disk on a computer.

It was the disk I made with the VCD format that did not play on my TV, but would play on my computer. I used a CD-RW and for the first time, a show that would not play on my TV.
And although disks I made with a DVD format had previously had worked just fine on my daughter's DVD player, the one I made with videos first using just the DVD format would not. So should I burn hers using the DVD/image format instead? The only difference I can see in what I had done previously for her was that this one contained videos. |
