Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 I found a solution - changing the port to 2025 fixes both problems using mydomain email account and with/without Outlook. Will I see any future problems using this port? Why does this work and not others? |

Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 I changed the port to 465 and setup an email account with my own domain at mydomain.com. I am getting connection errors when sending on this port and using this non-isp mail server - do I need to use Outlook as a mail client or can it work with MLK? |

Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 You can change the port used for SMTP sending under View>Options, Sending, Settings, but naturally you can't change it when using the Internal SMTP Server.

Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 You are right my ISP (SBC Yahoo) blocks port 25. Some mail programs allow you to change the port number - can I do this? Any ISP's which you would reccomend (I will need to use a dial-up)? |

Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 Hi
Unfortunately it is not possible to tell from this end what it is on your system that is preventing MLK from accessing the Internet, but other possibilties are:
- Router: Many routers have built-in firewalls - ISP: Some ISP's block port 25

Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 I disabled the virus software and the firewall - same error. The option to send using my Pacbell Mail server after 2 failures worked. |

Posted - Jan 01 2007 : 02:55:31 Hi Al
You should send to at least ten recipients to get a better picture of what is occuring.
However I expect that you will find that every message will fail with that same error "Invalid Reference(SMTP Error) (10004)" (or 10060) because that is a typical error when MLK's server is blocked from accessing the Internet.
Make sure that Norton's firewall is not blocking MLK from accessing the Internet. Also check that the anti-virus software's script stopper is not intercepting the SMTP sending.
