Posted - Jan 07 2009 : 04:16:00 When I "check for new" from MLK I get a warning "windows cannot locate your MAPI email software". I am running MLK version 8.05 and Thunderbird version 2.0.0.19 under Windows XP "Internet Options" in the control panel shows Thunderbird is set as the default email client. Until recently I have been able to check messages from Thunderbird with MLK without any problem. Possibly the problem has followed an upgrade of either Thunderbird of MLK, but I can't be sure of this |

Thanks for advising us of this. I'll direct users to that fix next time we have a similar report.

The only other thing i can think of is that you may have specified incorrect profile login details in MLK under View > Options, Other, Email Software.
You might try changing the default email software in the Windows Control Panel to Outlook Express and then changing it back to Thunderbird too.
Otherwise have MLK retrieve the mail directly from your mail server.

Posted - Jan 08 2009 : 00:05:23 Hi
Thunderbird supports SimpleMAPI so it should work to retrieve messages from the Inbox and send plain text messages:

The error you are getting indicates Windows can't find your MAPI client, generally because it has not been installed correctly. You should try reinstalling Thunderbird.
