I am evaluating MLK using the trial version I just downloaded, I set up a test maillist with a few of my personal addresses, then tried sending and receiveing via a gmail acct i set up specifically for use with MLK. Seems to be working up until the part where i actually send... getting the following error:

Sending of message with SMTP failed with the error:
5.7.0 Must issue a STARTTLS command first

Gmail requires authentication via ssl/starttls; i'd figure this would be a standard requirement and am sure the setting must be there in MLK somewhere, but I'm unable to find it.

Please help. Thank you

FYI, SSL (including Gmail) support will be available for sending and retrieval of messages in v6.26 (available in the next few days).

Details are at:

Hi Ayesha

We don't support secure SMTP yet (I don't know of any major ISP's that use it, only Gmail).

You can use the option for MLK to send via your email software and enable secure SMTP in your email software.

If you are unable to send via the Internal Server, your firewall is probably blocking it. Please send me the relevant mail_sent_*.txt file from the "SendLogs" folder under your database folder (click Ctrl+Shift+I to display your key folders).

Nigel,

Have you done anything about this issue. I could not send emails out as all of my ISPs are secure SSL. I cannot even send directly from MLK server.

Regards

Ayesha

Hi

All SMTP Authentication options are under View>Options, Sending tab, Settings.

However Secure SMTP is not presently supported as we have not had any specific requests for it. We will look at adding it in a coming version.

Hi Will

It's pencilled in for inclusion in a release in the first half of 2007.
