I have a Diji album with both .wmv and .avi videos inserted. They both play, but the .avi videos play at several times their normal speed while the .wmv files play correctly. The .avi videos play just fine through Windows Media Player outside of the Diji album. What's wrong.
All my new videos are .avi, as I can't get the quality I want with .wmv, so using .wmv is not really an option for me.

The codec pack(s)didn't help. I installed both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions from codecguide and Ffdshow from sourceforge. The .avi files still play at several times normal speed from within Diji, but normally outside of Diji.
I also tried changing my default player for .avi from Windows Media Player to RealPlayer, with the same results (though, I actually can't tell which player is activated from Diji . . .)
Any other suggestions?

I tried a bunch of free video converters/editors, but never found anything that both gave good quality results and worked from inside Diji. So, I finally tried one of the cheaper but highly-rated non-free products - AVS Video Converter ($40). It isn't fancy, but it accepts literally every format on input, allows basic editing, and produces high-quality output that also works in Diji. Hooray.
