MagCore.dll missing

Hi Nigel
When I click 'Preview' button on Pixplay, the following applet appears "ActiveMovie Window: Pixplay.exe - system error The program can't start because MagCore.dll is missing from your computer. Try re installing the program to fix this problem " Have tried that to no effect; then I uninstalled Arcsoft software from which MagCore.dll came. Still getting problem, please help.

Hi Bill

Arcsoft must have hijacked your system multimedia drivers.

I expect this is when PixPlay tries to play your MP3 background music.

Please download the MCI Tester, run it and let us know what results you get:

Thanks for reply. I'm running window 7 pro 64bit!
Details of MP3 format check
MCI Extension: MPEGVideo
Mediaplayer extension type: not registered with mediaplayer
MCI driver: This format has no MCI driver
MCI 32bit driver: This format has no MCI 32 bit driver

Have tried resetting to default but tells me "cannot write to win.ini"

Hi Bill

Save to the file to your desktop, then right-click it and choose "Run as Administrator"

Alternativel install a codec pack such as K-Lite Mega:

Hi Nigel,

I tried all your advices and I keep getting this magcore dll error. I've been googling this topic and according to Microsoft (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-windows_programs/magcoredll-missing/808cb305-c984-4780-8690-1bcc8631ae1) this error isn't unique to a particular software and in most cases it is either a problem of missing .dll or corrupted dll or using the wrong/outdated version of that dll - I also understand from another post (magcore dll) that after replacing the magcore dll it needs to be re-registered in Windows, so in that case, how do I do that?

Specifically when you ran the MCI tester, what result do you get? Is a "Fix" option displayed/
