| Downloaded some MP3 files, legally and with no digital rights,they play in Windows Media Player OK but not in DVD Pixplay v6.15, I get a message about not having adequate drivers ....... (no MCI device open). Is there away to overcome this by converting etc? it already is a .mp3 file. Not too technical a reply please. |

I upgraded to v.6.16 today and found that I can no longer play music associated with all the slideshows I previously prepared. I receive the message "An error was encountered playing the file (filename). You may not have adequate drivers to play this format on your system (No MCI device open). This error never occurred when using v. 6.15 and previous versions.
Following the advice of Jim Dalton in this thread, I downloaded and successfully installed the K Lite Codex Pack, but nothing has changed, not even after rebooting the system. All other sounds, including .mp3 files play normally on my computer. |

V6.16 has not made any changes in this area for a long time, so you must have installed/changed something on your system that upset your multimedia drivers.
Please download the MCI Tester, run it and let us know what results you get for that video format:

Thanks, Nigel. I ran the MCI tester program as you suggested and it immediately restored the music to my previously created slideshows. I'm not clear on what this did or how the problem originated, but I'm glad that it solved the problem.
The only things I did yesterday that could have possibly affected the slideshows was (A) I installed additional RAM in my computer, and (B) I installed v.6.16 when prompted to do so by DVD PixPlay. I'm confused what either of them could have done to foul up the drivers, especially since all other multimedia files on my computer continued to play as usual. The bottom line is that it's functioning properly now and, again, I thank you for the help.

Hi Murray
You may have run some other multimedia software on the computer that fouled things up. DVD PixPlay does not configure those settings in any way, just uses the settings that Windows provides it.
Running the MCI tester on the other hand detects any messed up settings and attempts to fix them.
