Hi Nigel, I am working on my 5th Pix Play Project. This one is for the Department of Tourism. I volunteered to do a DVD Slide Show of very high quality photos for them. There is a lot of cropping and editing to be done. So hours and hours. All is going well and I just do 1 hour or so and click File Save Project.
But, each time I re-open the project, I get this message: 42 of the files in your project cannot be found ! It lists them by number; but I can see them; they are there in my project work in progress. So, I have just been clicking "Close" and continuing my work on the project.
Question ?? : When I go to burn are these 42 files going to be in the production or not ??

Dennis still here, Maybe I should try a trial burn on what is done and see if the 42 appear on the DVD. But, this gets back to my other questionin the Forum.
How do I burn this project but still have it available on my computer to edit work towards the finish ?? I do not want to burn it on a test and lose it all such that I cannot continue to work on it.
Regards, Dennis

The files are shown as missing usually because the source of the files is no longer where it was when you first saved them from your camera. Are you loading the pictures straight from your camera into Pixplay?? If you do that and then are disconnecting your camera, then Pixplay will not be able to find them again. You must remember that the images you see in Pixplay are only copies of the originals and are not there permenantly, but rely on pixplay knowing wherr they were to be found. Are you loading your photos into a folder on your computer BEFORE putting them into pixplay and making a slide show. From reading your previous threads I suspect that you are not doing this. Another thing that has fooled me in the past has been saving the photos from my camera onto an external hard drive. If I forget to switch on the external drive and try to work on Pixplay then guess what " Images cannot be found" Hope that this helps.

Thanks Bagsey, The files should be there I have re-uploaded them. But they may not be there now from their original source, you are right.
So, how can I do a trial burn, and still have the project on my computer to be manageable and workable without losing it after the burn ??? I do not get that part ?? So far, after each burn of a project I have been left with nothing except the burned DVD.
Dennis (Copy and Paste is a breeze now, thanks Nigel)

You say that you have re-uploaded the photos onto your computer but have you told pixplay where they are. If you hover your mouse pointer over one of your images in your project it will give you the address that Pixplay expects to find that image, if it is not in that location then it can not be found by your pixplay project. I cannot think of a quick way to put this problem right. It would appear that you would need to find each photo individually. But I could be wrong someone may have a work arround for this . I dont see any advantage in doing a trial burn if some of your images are failing to show up in your project. You are obviously having problems that I have never experienced.

Yes Hi Bagsley, it took some time but I did as you said. Found the files that were missing. Put them in the file you see when you wave the mouse over the picture. And now I have no errors, and no boxes flashing images cannot be found. But, Wow, did that ever eat up a couple of hours.

Hi Dennis
Under View > Options, Folders, you might want to enable the option to copy all files you use to your project folder. That should prevent this happening again.

Hi Nigel Just for clariffication: Do you mean ?? View Options Folders
Other Options: And set to: ALWAYS copy project images/videos to work folder
I cannot afford to mess up again, over 12 hours in now and a good 12 more to go.

Hi Dennis As Nigel said and, yes,ALWAYS copy project images/videos to work folder. Than save your project (DO NOT CLOSE PixPlay) and go to the specified folder. open it and the files (pictures and Music) should be there. Good Luck. Best regards

Hi
At this time the setting should apply to new files added to your project. Off the top of my head I don't know that there is currently a way to make it automatically copy all of the existing files to your project folder. We are looking into that for the update that is in progress.
