I just tried creating a new database, but now I can't find my old one! I know where the CSV and MLK files are, but when I try to open from there, MLK says No Database Found. This is scary!

The new one is in my Users folder (I'm using Vista) in AppData\Local\Xequte\MailListKing\Customers or DB (I'm not sure). (Customers is the name of the new database I'm trying to create.) Both folders have a bunch of strange file types, like DAT, IDX, BLB, and DDT. Trying to search my computer for those file types hasn't turned up anything.

The folder where I keep my MLK and CSV files is what I back up. I thought the CSV files were my database, but if so, why is MLK saying it can't find a database in that folder? If not, where is my database? What files should I be looking for?

Also, when I choose File> Open Mailing List Database, the path I mentioned above isn't available. Under my username, the AppData folder doesn't appear. Of course, I can see it in Windows Explorer.

thanks,
Ellen

Hi Ellen

The files are unlikely to have been deleted so they must be on your system somewhere

What is listed under File > Recent Databases? Is it not there?

Otherwise search your system for mlk_main.dat (including hidden folders) and then use File > Open to open the database in that folder.

Nigel,
I wrote another e-mail, which seems to have gotten lost. Yes, I found it in Recent Databases, so now I have it back. And thanks to your information, I just found the database, which is in a folder called DB.

But after creating the new database (which I couldn't configure properly to extract information from e-mails in Outlook) and going back to my original one, my original database had the settings I'd set up for the new one, e.g., the folder in Outlook to look in. Do I need to go to View> Options> Other and check the Use a Different Configuration for Each Mailing List Database check box to have different settings for the new database?

Thanks,
Ellen

Hi Ellen

Yes, enable "Use a Different Configuration for Each Mailing List Database" if you want to configure each mailing list differently.
