The forum is helpful on the subject of setting frame times to match background music. However, I want to set my display and transition times first, then add the music (and/or narration), and adjust the sound file timing to fit the frames.
May I suggest a feature allowing a specified sound file to be forced to coincide with a specified frame? Better still, allow a specified sound file to start at a specified number of seconds after the start of a specified frame?
For my purposes, I would not want sound files to overlap, so any previous sound file should stop. Alternatively, I should choose my sound tracks so they don't overlap.

The way that I do it reasonably successfully is by using Audicity.(free download)
First make up your slideshow and go through it and write your comentary. Check the timing of what you wish to say about each slide. Remember trying to say to much about each slide will make for a very boring slideshow for your audience.Having decided on your comentary record it using Audicity. Save it. Make a second copy of it as the copy for you to work with. Apply it to your Pixplay slide show. Run it in preview mode to check that your timing is OK. There will be adjustment you must make this can be done by changing the slide timing by adding or subtract a second or 2 to make it fit. If needed pieces of silence can be inserted using Audacity to spread (space) out the snatches of words.
I am aware that this is not a full description of the work needed but it should give you some idea how to approach this task. If you need more help after trying this task please do not hesitate to post back.
I generally try not to be to slide specific when making my narration but keep it more themed by the general area of the slides in the show.
What I have said above applies equally as well to Music files.
It sounds complicated but really isn't, you must however set up your slide show to run as you would like before you start putting in your sound bites be they music or narration. The spacing is done accurately by counting the seconds from the start of your show to the location where you want the music etc to start Audacity has a function to allow you to generate periods of silence of fixed length so that you can regulate and fix the position of the sound clip along the length of the slideshow and to allow you to space out the sound clips along the slide show.Small adjustments can be made to sound location be changing the length of the pieces of silence or changing the slide display time. As I said earlier, if this does not make sense please post back and I will try again.

Hi
Audacity is a nice program but it has no mp3 conversion function built in. So I use the "Creative" "Wavestudio"

Hi;
I use Audacity all the time and after modifying any piece of music I simply "Export the file as MP3" back to my stored music files but modify the file name as I'm saving it so it becomes a new file. When prompted again by Audacity to save the original file, I smiply click No and the original music file will not be modified. |

Further to my requested enhancement above, and Bagsey's explanation of his procedures, I believe it is necessary to be able to alter the visual part of the show (add or move images, alter times, etc), without having to redo the sound part. Hence my suggestion that sound files (whether music or commentary) need to be fixable to particular frames.
