Hi Nigel,

I often come across new prospects in cyberspace and want to send them mailers as well as to keep their contact info. To do so quickly, I have been entering their email addresses by specifying "a custom list of recipients" in the MESSAGE RECIPIENTS window. (It would have been less quick and more cumbersome to have to enter these targets' particulars, then send the mailer.)

Now I could successfully send to these prospects but I also want to add these prospects permanently into my database (without having to manually add them separately). There is no option to do so efficiently at this time - or is there?? This would be a great feature to add to the next MLK upgrade!

Thanks for considering this suggesstion

Sorry, I forgot to mention one additional point regarding manual addition of email addresses via inputting into a "custom list of recipients". If, after the mailout is sent I manually added these contacts into my MLK (i.e. doing it the "long way"), how can I change the LAST MESSAGE DATE and the No. of MESSAGES SENT to keep an accurate record that these same individuals had already been mailed once already?

I know I could add a remark in HISTORY but that is not reflected in the LAST MESSAGE DATE and the number of MESSAGES SENT. As far as MLK is concerned, these manually added contacts into the main database are brand new and for these individuals, the LAST MESSAGE DATE is blank and the number of MESSAGES SENT is also blank.

Thanks for taking the time to read through my scenario here!

Hi

Probably the easiest way to bulk add data in that way is to type/paste all of the data into an Excel spreadsheet and then import the data into MLK.

You can set the "message sent" and other fields by selecting the member(s) and then clicking Edit > Set Field of Selected Members.

Thanks, Nigel. Hmm, yes I do know about importing info from a spreadsheet (Excel) and all entries would then be seamlessly incorporated into the MLK database. Just thought there could be something quicker than this 2-step process.

Re: Edit > Set Field of Selected Members --- can't seem to be able to do so with ONE member. There isn't a "Set Field of Selected Members" or "Message sent" in the list of options when one member is selected. However, when I highlighted two or more members, there is such an option when you right-click or go to the Edit function on the header.

Hi

I'm certainly open to suggestions on how we might make the process easier. we have considered a spreadsheet-like input dialog.

Yes, the "Set field" function is only available with a multiple selection.
