I am trying to use MLK with an SMTP Virtual Server in IIS 6 running on Windows Server 2003. The SMTP server is set to only allow mail relay for users passing Integrated Windows Authentication. This works fine for regular e-mails via Outlook and also when MLK is set to use Outlook. However when connecting to the SMTP server directly, error 5.7.1 Unable to relay... is flagged.

When MLK is set to use Outlook the SMTP log has a command sequence:

EHLO +WKS40 250
AUTH WKS40 235
MAIL +FROM:+<...> 250
RCPT +TO:+<...> 250
DATA +<...> 250
QUIT WKS40 240

When set to use the SMTP server directly it fails with:

EHLO +WKS40 250
MAIL +FROM:<...> 250
RCPT +TO:<...> 550
QUIT WKS40 240

MLK isn't sending AUTH commands. The authentication details have all been set up correctly.

I've also tried setting 'login via POP' but this just generates more authentication errors 'SPA Required, use AUTH or APOP'.

All in all it's behaving like it isn't sending any authentication details even though it's set to. Any ideas?

(NB. I'm using the evaluation version of MLK 7.10 on an WinXP SP2 machine.)

Hi

At this time Integrated Windows Authentication is not supported, so you would need to disable that in IIS, or use the Outlook sending method.
