My ISP limits sending emails only 250 emails within 10 minutes.

I set up MLK Pro 6.28r to send via my SMTP with staggering delay and it basically works. But for any reason my ISP's SMTP says it's too much.

No problem, I click away the error message in MLK and wait for 10 Minutes. But now the bug: MLK seem to never "recover" from this error message. Then, strangely suddenly always "SMTP requires authentification" appear (which is actually all well defined in the settings). Cancelling and Restarting the send job in MLK does not help.

The only way to continue sending is to save the unsent list, create a new group, import the unsent addresses and file a new send job (until the SMPT showstopper kicks in again).

I am sooo sick of this. Why can't I simply dish out a newsletter?

Hi

Becuase your ISP thinks you are sending too many emails it is returning an authentication error (because there is no standard error to handle the case where your ISP disconnects you for exceeding their limits).

Now MLK is unaware whether this is a permanent or transient error so may continue sending if you don't abort.

So what are your options:

1. Firstly, make sure you use the batch sending options (or the new ISP limits option in v7) to stay under your ISP's limits

2. If you do get an error due to exceeding the ISP limits then abort the sending. After the ten minute delay restart the sending task (to unsent recipients) which is under View>Sending Tasks in v6 or the Sending Tasks mode in the main window of v7.

The problem is that my ISP only allows 250 emails within 10 Minutes.

I have set stagggering delivery in MLK to only send an email every 3 seconds which would actually be under the radar of my ISP.

However, the ISP still complains with above error message, most probably because the SMPT server additionally requires to log off and log on after each batch delivery.

Given that I had to exit and restart MLK and go to the sending tasks and restart the send job on every 250 emails.

Well, this is not the kind of "comfort" I was looking for as my other newsletter is about 25k. I cant effort to sit in front of my computer just waiting for the next 10 minutes.

This is quite inacceptible and MLK v6 was expensive enough in order to deal with such issues. My ISP 1&1 is European biggest ISP and I wonder that a significant amount of your customers may face the same problem.

In v7 it is easily resolved by using the ISP Limit option specifying a maximum of 230* messages/recipients per ten minutes.

In v6 it can also be resolved by using the batch sending function. Click the down button beside the send message button and specify 230* recipients per ten minutes.

Either way you are connected and disconnected after each batch.

* use a value less than the absolute limit to cover other messages you send.

This feature is well hidden. But I have to blame myself :-)

Thank you. I would have wondered if you haven't considered this already.

Suggestion: You may want to let MLK scan for the neccessity to send batches. It took my a while to figure out that it was my ISP always stopping my email delivery. I blamed Outlook and whatever before. The ISP was my last option.

I think that "thanks" to SPAM that more and more ISPs will have such limitation and wonder that you are not swamped by enquiries.

Hi

The problem is that Spam wasn't really considered when they inked the SMTP protocol, and as such there is not a consistent way in that ISP's stop further sending when limits are reached. In particular, there is no standard error code. The error code returned is usually quite ambiguous and thus MLK can't easily say that the problem is related to ISP limits and suggest a solution.
