Hi Live in England. I like your software. If it works for PAL. I wish to buy it. But it does not do so. Problem: Follow the wizard instructions carefully. Select PAL. Select burn to DVD (high quality). Burns fine. Will not play in my DVD Player (Panasonic DMR-EX75EB)- error message "TV not compatible". Check disc with Plextools - it reports: "ISO 9660, UDF(V1.02) MPEG-1, 720x480, NTSC, 4:3" Despite checking the PAL circle the DVD is NTSC. This cannot be right.
I've done some further investigation: Analysis of .VOB file using Media Player Classic and a comparison with a DVD recording of a TV programme.
PixPlayer DVD:-
Plextools........................VOB Data MPEG-1...........................MPEG-2 (yes Plextools reports MPEG-1) 720x480..........................720x576(yes Plextools reports 480) NTSC..............................**** (**** = not reported) 4:3................................16:9 (of no importance) ****..............................25 fps.
DVD recording of TV programme:-
Plextools........................VOB Data MPEG-2...........................MPEG-2 704x576..........................704x576 PAL...............................**** 4:3................................4:3 ****..............................25 fps.
Regards,
Baj

Some DVD recorders can record in PAL from a PAL source or NTSC from an NTSC source, however, they do not covert the signal during recording -- in other words, you cannot record a PAL disc if your source is NTSC or vice versa. Also, NTSC DVD recorders cannot record from its NTSC tuner to a disc in PAL format.
The only real workarounds for this are:
If you have a DVD player that has a built-in NTSC-PAL converter -- that would enable you to play an NTSC disc and view it on a PAL TV (or vice versa).
OR
If you purchase an NTSC to PAL converter and place it between a camcorder or VCR and a DVD recorder with PAL recording capability so that the DVD recorder can record a DVD in PAL.

Hi Jim Thanks for your comments. All my recorders, players and TVs are PAL. I have no interest in NTSC whatsoever; I only have and use PAL equipment and media.
My problem is not trying to play NTSC but getting the DVD burnt by PixPlayer, in PAL format (look at the data I supplied, 25 fps - 720x576) to play on my PAL set-up.
Although PixPlayer has burnt the disc perfectly in PAL format, there is obviously some sort of header that is mistakingly telling my DVD player that it is an NTSC disc and because my TV is PAL, the player then stops after displaying the error message.

Hi Baj
In the log it is correctly settings the Pal flag, so i'm not sure why the disk is not being reported as such. At any rate, we have it down for investigation for the next update of DVD PixPlay.
However I think this is unlikely to be the cause of your playback problems. With all the DVD players we have for testing a NTSC disk plays as well as a PAL disk on a PAL DVD player (we're located in NZ so we have a lot of PAL players).
Try using different types and brands of disks, we have numerous reports of people saying that after changing from Generic Brand X to a better brand it solved their problems.
Also try going into View>Options, Other, Advanced and change the DVD MPEG Audio Setting

Hi Jim,
You have found the cause of my problem: I am using S-Video for all my connections and it appears that the DMR-EX75EB will not handle NTSC signals on its S-Video circuits. The erroneous information recorded on the DVD is stopping the EX75 from outputting a perfectly good PAL video to my TV. I have an HDMI cable on order and hopefully this will cure my problem caused by the NTSC label on the DVD.
Many thanks

Hi Nigel
I have successfully produced a playable DVD by saving the slide show to a file and then burning it to a DVD using other software. I note that you intend to investigate (and hopefully fix) this problem during your next update.
If I were to purchase DVD PixPlay now, would the update be free?
Thanks
