Would there be a way to add people to subgroups in a directory style structure?
Lets say... 123@aol.com ->
3 main groups. group 1, 2 & 3
then 3 sub groups ->
1.
a
b
c
2.
a
b
c
3.
a
b
c
This would be very helpful in allowing sub categories of recipients. Maybe something like a Xequote mailing list with a category of MLK and a subcategory of business users, Pro users, standard users.
Is this possible?

It is not presently possible. It is oft-requested and we have it on the to-do list. I think it would be useful, though it might be confusing for many users.
We would need to have a special set of rules governing how subscription/unsubscription is handled, e.g. when you unsubscribe from a main group would you be removed from all sub-groups as well (presumably yes).
We'll consider it again for a coming upgrade.

Confusing? This is the way every director structure is set up....
folder1/subfolder1/file
If you delete folder 1 or the sub-folder, the file will be deleted.
another option would be to have separate database support with in 1 MLK run.

Yes, i agree that every file directory is structured like that, but almost no mailing list is structured in that way. Belonging to groups has a real world equivalent and so people can understand the electronic analogy. It may be harder for people to understand that they can belong to groups, and those groups are sub-groups of other groups, etc.
I'm not saying it is not a good idea. It is something that we want to do (technically it is simple), but it needs to be done in a thoughtful manner.
