I have not yet figured out a way to produce a slideshow and keep the pictures in the order I want them to appear. I understand you can drop and drag, or sort by date, etc. but there must be an easier way.
Here's my problem. I am attemptimg to put scanned pictures into slideshows, and I want them to appear in the years that they were taken. Of course, they aren't dated, so that option of sorting is out.
I have them in folders labeled for example, 1970 pics, 1980 pics, etc. I can start adding images to build a slideshow, by adding these folders one by one, and take the time to sort the first 100 or so, then sure enough I will add a later folder, and they are all acrambled again. So frustrating!
I have tried mass remumbering of each file, and that doesn't seem to do it either.
So, is there a way of renaming the files, and/or renumbering each picture in those files so that they will import into a slideshow without being mixed up?
At this point, I would be happy just to have the folder group appear in the order I want them, even if the order of pictures doesn't follow.
Right now, I can be adding images starting with say 1990, 1991, and so on, and I can add a later dated 2000 folder, and it will appear in between those dates.
So what am I doing wrong, and how can I change this? I'd even upgrade to another program if it would make this task easier.
Thanks so much.

I have this to add...lately when I open the Pixplay program to start a project, it won't let me back out of it. All of the commands at the top like view, help, etc. won't do anything when I click on them. I can't cancel or go back out without using control/alt/delete.
I think I can go ahead and burn a show, just can't back out if I change my mind. So something must be wrong. I have been using the program since January with good results except for the picture order without that problem, so what is causing this to happen now?

When you add imagages you must go to the picture where you want the image to follow and click on this picture THEN go to the ADD IMAGE SELECTION ON THE TOOLBAR and select the image or folder you want to add. Hope this helps you!!!!

Hi Bette

Also, have you noted the sort button on the bottom right of the "Add Images" window.

Choose the best sort option there. DVD PixPlay will add the images in the order they are displayed.

I must not be looking in the right area for this sort button. When I add images, all I see on the bottom RIGHT is the add all/add selected. Is this the screen where the sort button is? And if you use the wizard to make a slideshow, you aren't able to sort each batch as you add them. It won't let you.
If I go to the edit button there is a sort option, but I don't see where that would help when most of my pictures are scanned ones with no dates, so sorting by date isn't an option.
The pictures in my files are in the order I want them to appear in a slideshow. What is the reason they don't "move" to your slideshow project in that same order?
Thanks!

Select the ADD IMAGE BUTTON

The next screen that appears is the SELECT IMAGES AND VIDEOS. On the bottom right hand side is a RED X Cancel. Right above the X are three small icons. Select the one that show A-Z and a arrow. Click on it and select the method of sorting you want.

Since you say your pictures are in the order you want them, then there is no reason to sort them---so just select the ADD ALL BUTTON.

Remember to place the added items in the current position or at the end of the slideshow. This selection is located at the far left hand side of the screen in a drop down box right above the Windows Start button. Hope this helps you ! ! ! !

Ok, I understand what you are saying, but the images I am adding don't always appear in the same order when I transport them to the slideshow...so even if I select "add all", they aren't always in the same order as I had them in my folder. I'd like to know why that is.
I also use Digital Image Suite photo shop to improve some of the pictures, and noticed that they are in a different position when I add them to my library in there too. But that is not where I gather them for a slideshow, I go to My Pictures, and open the folders I want in there.
I run virus updates daily, so I don't think there is a problem there. What else could it be?
Thanks!

Sorry Bette, can you please confirm...

When you click "Add Images" the images are shown in the correct order, however if you click "Add All" they are added in a different order.

Is that correct?

Nigel,
The images get scrambled in order when I "add images". I just tried it again with only one folder of pictures, and they did not appear in the order they are in in my folder. Could it be how they are numbered or lettered?
And if I choose the sort icon on the bottom right, I don't see how those options could help me with scanned pictures, unless I renamed them all. I can batch rename each folder before imptorting them to Pixplay. And I tried that by temporarily renaiming the first folder I wanted "aa", then the second, "bb". I think I even tried naming them "1970" and 1971", but still they aren't added in the same order as they appear in my folders.
And the drop down sorting box you are referring to in the bottom left of the screen..is it there all the time like the "add all or add selected" is? It sounds like a dumb question I know, but it is not there when I try to create a show. Does it only appear when you try one of those sorting options by clicking the "A" button near the "add all" boxes?
And while I am at it, what exactly does the upgraded package bundle you have for $49.00 have as added features that Pixplay does not have? If it has an easier way to sort pictures in it, it would be worth the money I think.
And thank you again for you reply,
Bette

Hi Bette

I'm sorry but can you please send me a screen shots of what you are seeing.
(To create a screenshot display the program with the problem visible then select PrintScreen (or PrtScr) on the top of your keyboard. Using Microsoft Word or an image editor such as Paint, select Paste. Save the file, if possible as a JPEG if you are using an image editor and send it to us)

In answer to your questions:

1. The Add position option is only shown when you click "Add Images" on the toolbar

2. The $49.50 Bundle includes Smart Pix Manager which is an image and multimedia management and viewing program. You can learn more and download an evaluation from:
