Is there no way to select more than one file at a time
[ctrl+ select].

Yes, I was messing around with "Shift" but I forgot how to do it exactly.

Any chance of implementing "left mouse click and swipe to grab select" and simple "click on white space" to deselect? These functions are so common these days. |

Yes, in the same way as Windows. Ctrl+Click to add to the selection. Shift+Click to select a row of files. Ctrl+A to select all.
