 Diji Album used to "archive" photos

Hi guys. I have been using Diji Album for a number of years now. I have created more than 50 albums containing close to 6000 photos. I use the application as a means of "archiving" photos and text associated with each photo. This allows me to save photos and info surrounding the photos for future reference. I had to scan old paper copies at first but then started using digital photos. My kids have now started their own families and are producing photos of the grandchildren on Facebook. My question is simple: Is Diji Album the way to go for them to "archive" their photo's. If so. I will gladly buy them copies of the software. If not, what are their options ?

Whether it is a good solution for archiving is a more sticky question. My concern with relying on any software, including our own, is locking yourself into a proprietary file format.

We've tried to make our formats open (an alb file is just a zip, and pag and alp files are text format, for example), but twenty years down the track when Diji Album ceases to exist, will you still be able to view your albums???

No file format is forever, but if you use common ones in video, text, image, etc, then you should be OK. So if you do use Diji Album, ensure you also output a copy to video (MP4) and HTML to keep your options open.
