I downloaded Text Lightning and am having a problem installing it. I get the error 0x80004005 saying that while the XLightning.dll loaded it was not called by the DLLRegistryServer (regsvr32).

I am using Vista Business and have UAC disabled. I attempted to manually load the DLL using the highlevel command prompt but got the same error.

I would love to use the product so if you have a workaround, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you for your patience.

We have released v1.01 which fixes the issue. You can download v1.01 from:

Hi, I had the same problem installing on Vista Ultimate with Office 2007 and the above solutions did not work. Trying to run RegDLL.bat as administrator in normal and safe mode said it could not find the file XLightning.dll.

In a command window I navigated to the file location C:\Program Files\Text Lightning and ran "RegSvr32 XLightning.dll". In normal windows it came up with the same 0x80004005 error but in Safe mode it ran succesfully and the software is now installed.

Hope this helps some-one else

Got it. Thanks!

FYI, I'm running Vista Business and I am also using GTD addon.

This is what I did: I started the PC in Safe Mode, then using Explorer I navigated to the Text Lightning folder. I right-clicked on the RegDLL.bat file to install the DLL and received a success message.

Thanks for the help.

Only tried the "Run as..."

Hi

The "Run as Admin" workaround, Safemode, or both?

I'm hoping a real solution to the issue will be available over the next week (we were only made aware of the issue on Wednesday and have been scrambling to resolve it).

I get the same error when trying the workaround on Vista Business...
xequte Posted - Mar 21 2009 : 23:41:23
Hi

The issue can occur when installing on Windows XP and Vista and is caused by a library that is used in the application. We are working through the issue with the company that developed that library and hope to have a fix before too long.

For users who don't want to wait this workaround has been successful for some users (I note that you have tried it but i'll include it for other readers):

1. Restart Windows and do not start any programs (particularly Outlook)
2. Go to the folder: C:\Program Files\Text Lightning\
3. Under Vista, right click RegDll.bat and choose "Run as Administrator". On other versions of Windows just double-click the file RegDll.bat

You may also be able to install it under Safemode and then restart Windows
