Posted - Mar 01 2009 : 02:55:31 I notice there's a provision to enter a custom DNS number when sending through the MLK server. What is this for? Is there a better DNS to use other than the internal one? How might this feature be useful?
Warmest Regards,
Stephen |

There is generally no benefit whatsoever from setting a custom DNS, unless MLK is unable to detect the correct one to use.

How would I know that?

Posted - Feb 16 2009 : 21:13:28 Hi Stephen
The internal server often requires changes to the settings on your computer because my default most firewalls will block local servers.
Firstly check that your anti-virus software (particularly Norton) does not have a worm blocking option turned on. Then check your firewall (or router) is not blocking port 25 or 53.
If that brings you no joy, please email me a sending log where you have at least 10 recipients.
(To display your sending log: Run MLK and click Ctrl+Shift+I. Choose the option to display your database folder and then browse to the folder "SendLogs" In that folder your log files are named "mail_sent_*.txt" with the date of the delivery included in the name).

Posted - Feb 15 2009 : 09:41:14 When I try the internal server I get this error message...
"Mail Delivery Error for 10@stephenhorrillo.com: Error: Connection attempt timed out (10060) Closing Thread: 10@stephenhorrillo.com Process status for 11@stephenhorrillo.com: Invalid Reference (SMTP Error) (10004) [0] Action Connecting"
Then I looked up the "dns servers" uing the ipconfig command and got 217.115.138.24. That didn't work either. I got the same error message as above.
What am I doing wrong? I have no router. It sends via smtp fine. Just can't get the internal server working.
