I'm running V11.21 and its been fine for months and nothing has changed on our system except for virus checker updates and Windows updates

ADSL connection is fine

But this week sending is really slow - it usually takes about 15 minutes to send our self imposed limit of 500 per hour -and it is now taking over an hour

Also it is some times stopping and having to be pushed to carry on

Suggestion where to look for solutions please?

Hi

The Access violation is because you are getting so many failures that MLK has become overwhelmed. Fix the time-out issue and this secondary sympton will disappear.

You might consider having MLK send via an SMTP service:

I can particularly recommend Amazon's inexpensive SES service.

No reply to this I see?

Much smaller message going out better today but still only 600 per hour

May have been something up with main UK BT ADSL backbone last week

And what does this mean?

"Access violation at address 00B4A6B8 in module "MLKing.exe". read of address 000000A7"

I'm afraid I cannot do that - but I'm still puzzled why it has been OK for so long and not this week

Hi

In the log you sent me, the messages were sent via MLK's SMTP server, rather than your one. Have you tried sending via your SMTP server (i.e. of your ISP)?

message is no bigger than usual - about 25kb - same as last six months - this is a monthly send

Virus checker is unchanged - outgoing mail not checked and Mail list king excepted.

External IP address is fixed and is not on a black list

There is no problem with our SMTP services - we use zen.co.uk and they do not stop me sending out over their servers - have checked today and nothing has changed - I trim the "send" back to 500 per hour and it usually goes out over one night - but this one has taken all week - started on Monday and still running now!

I am using a domain for the email sending which I do not control - london@institute-of-fundraising.org.uk - could that be a problem?

And what was the other error I was getting about? That message seems to have disappeared!

Hi
You are getting a huge number of timeouts. If this has only just started happening then check what has changed:

- Your message has three attached images. Are any of these particularly large? If your message is too large to be sent in the specified timeout period then it will fail
- Have you installed or changed your anti-virus software? Some products such as Norton actually detect programs sending mail and intercept them. Try disabling the worm-blocking option
- Has your IP address appeared on a black list?
- Has your ISP made any changes to block local mail servers?

Use of local mail servers can be difficult these days, so you might consider having MLK send via an SMTP service:

In particular Amazon's SES service is reliable and inexpensive.

Hi

Please email me the log file for the sending task:

1. Run MLK and click Ctrl+Shift+I.
2. Check the box to display your "Sending Logs" folder and click "OK"
3. In that folder your log files are named "mail_sent_*.txt" with the date of the delivery included in the name. Find the files of the relevant date and send them to me

Here is one error...

"You have encountered more than 20 consecutive timeouts. Ensure that MailList King has access to the Internet and destination mail server. If you are sending large messages ensure that your time-out setting is not set too low."
