Hi Nigel
Using 11.21 B R
I have many Completed Tasks that sometimes I just wish to Edit slightly and then resend again but to different receipients, or sometimes to the same ones
But I want to Automate the sending, so that the same reminder Offer email goes out to the same clients once every week for 4 weeks. How can I do this from a Completed Task?
Thanks and keep up the good work on MLK - it ROCKS!
Andrew

Hi Doug

Thanks for the detail

To clarify the current status of one issue you mentioned, recipients of future emails.

In the current release if you send to all your mailing list or specified groups then generation of the recipient list is delayed until the time the message is sent, so any new members added to the group will be included, and unsubscribed messages will not be sent to.

This does not apply, however, when sending to a complex search or ad hoc selection of recipients.

This can be done quite easily, I do it all the time and it's quit simple. There are two ways to do this depending on how your Mail List King environment. I run mine in in-manned mode and use RAC commands to send out messages. Been doing this for many years now. I do not use a mail client on my Mail List King Host so our configs might be a bit different. I manage and send messages to MLK rom several Windows with Outlook.

When I want to send the same message say four times over a month a week apart I send the message once to MLK. I then go into my Outlook sent folder, find the message open it up click on resend, (to resend the message) and select delayed send which allows me to specify when to send the email in the future. For the third and fourth sending I do the exact same thing. If you know now that the message you want to send out will be slightly different you can make mods to the message now for set for future sending. Outlook places send messages in the future in your Outbox. These messages can be modified up until the time of sending.

If you don't have the teaks to the text now for the messages you are going to send out in the future add an email account for an email address you never use. Send the email blast out today which will deliver the message to that account. In a week you'll easily be able to find the message (it will be the only message in the In box) modify it and send to MLK with the RAC command for sending.

MLK has a delayed send option I tried to use several years ago. While it worked there is a problem if you have people constantly subscribing/unsubscribing. I think Nigel may have changed it, but at the time (several versions of MLK ago) MLK would queue the message for sending with the subscribed members at the time the message was "sent" on MLK, not the time the message would be sent. So what would happen is anyone who joined MLK between the time the message was "sent" in MLK and the time the message was actually sent would not receive the message. Likewise anyone who unsubscribed would receive the message. Not exactly the way one would expect it to work. I requested this a a feature enhancement and I think Nigel made the change but can't say for sure. I needed a solution at the time so I figured out how to use Outlooks re-send and delayed send features with a dedicated mail box.

Hope this solution works for you.

Doug

Hi

This is a plan for us to have a "marketing campaign" feature whereby a series of messages can be sent (which can change based on user responses, etc). But unfortunately that will be a lot of development so it may be a while

Thanks for the quick reply.

would an Automation Feature like this not be a simple and good addition to the already excellent MLK ?

I have always thought that MLK should now branch into an emailer CRM as such

Hi Andrew

Unfortunately there is not an option to automatically resend the messages. After the message has been sent you would need to bring up the properties, reset the recipients (i.e. mark all as unsent) and then schedule a date for the next delivery.
