Nigel, I have a small list (<1,000) and the end user wants the Board members to review the data and update as appropriate.
I tested exporting the file, updating a couple of test records and then importing the changes. MLK wouldn't accept the updated records:
"Address already exists in the group"
In searching the forum for similar questions found one from 2/24/2005 (v4) that sounded like the answer, you responded:
When importing/adding entries that are already in the database (have the same e-mail address) then MLK will either ignore the entry or update the record depending on your setting for "When a member already exists update the fields with new values" in View>Options, Other.
I can't find that option anymore but there's an entry in the settings.ini file under Database that comes close:
UpdateFieldsOfOldEntry=True
But, even though it's set to true I still can't update a current record with an imported change.
Thanks for any insight.

Posted - Dec 21 2010 : 06:24:34 Nigel, the second test performed the same, the records were updated properly but the message indicated otherwise.
Happy Holidays to all!

Thanks for the update. I'll look at improving the post import message to advise that even if the contact exists, that the fields were updated.

Posted - Dec 20 2010 : 19:47:54 My apologies Nigel, when I went back to check the original and changed records, I found the records in MLK had actually been updated [as expected], not sure why I received the error message. At the time I didn't think to check the records in the database.
I'll test again and pay attention to every step and report back.
Thanks for the quick response...as always.

I'd like to test that at my end, so can you please tell me what fields were changed in the import file?
