Posted - Sep 30 2009 : 14:17:05 Hello,
I have a few questions before I download or buy this:
1. Will this work on windows 2003 with IIS 7? 2. Can I create forms in asp.net for users to susbcribe or manage their info? Are there any samples in any language? 3. Can the subscribers use emailaddress and password to change their options? 4. Are options like, send daily digest, search messages available?
I am very new to mailing lists and that is why I have these questions.
Your help would be appreciated. |

No, MLK needs to be running for it to process emails.

Posted - Oct 06 2009 : 10:54:40 Thanks for all your help. One last question...
Can mails be sent and received, even when MLK is not open. If I set the SMTP details, can subscribers be added just by a command email and MLK is never opened.
Thanks |

Posted - Oct 04 2009 : 02:40:18 I am still confused with: MLK is client software, rather than a server product.
MLK does not run on your server, it runs on the PC you normally use. It works with your web server by processing any web form submission emails that are generate when someone completes a form on your web page. Users can subscribe, unsubscribe and update their details using web forms in this way, however password protection is not supported.
Can there be moderators for the mailing lists? So that not everyone can send messages to the list?
Only the admin (who has MLK installed) can moderate messages at this time. Anyone can send to your list if you enable that option.
Can there be members whose emails does not require moderation and they should be sent as soon as the mail is sent?
You can enable the option to require sending by new members to be confirmed.
Does the email needs to be sent through MLK only, or someone can send the email to say subscribers@mycompany.com and the mail goes to everyone in that mailing list?
It can be sent from anywhere.

Posted - Oct 01 2009 : 06:11:13 Thanks for your prompt reply.
I am still confused with:
MLK is client software, rather than a server product. So it does not include server based management functionality.
What does that mean? If I have 1000 subscribers and 10 mailing lists, can I create a form so that they can manage their subscriptions, which list they want to subscribe and which they want to unsubscribe, etc? Then, can it be password protected, so that a subscriber can make changes only to his/her subscriptions and not someone else's
Thanks Mahesh |

1. Yes
2. MLK processes the emails received from web forms, so it will work with web forms created in any language. You can use the wizard under View > Options, Web Forms to build a skeleton web form and then pair it with a form to email script.
3. MLK is client software, rather than a server product. So it does not include server based management functionality.
4. Daily digests are coming in a later update
