Hi guys,

I'm tryin to process the bounced e-mails of my sendings but the undeliverable count of the users doesn't change, some have changed to 1 it seems.

"Manually: By using the function List>Add Addresses from E-mail Software and choosing the "Process as Undeliverable" option
Automatically: By using Automatic Processing Tasks function (Outlook only) "

Already tried both options, the bounced e-mails are in a Outlook Folder, about 25.000 bounced all of this year.

Regards,

Leonardo

Hi

You describe two methods of bounce message processing:

"Check for New"

When MLK encounters a bounce report message in its general processing of mailing list messages it extracts the exact bounce recipient address and processes only that (because it recognizes all common bounce report formats).

Using "Get Addresses"

You can retrieve addresses found in all messages in a folder using the "Get Addresses" function and then opt to process all found addresses as bounces, however this process does not consider the formatting of the message and treats any addresses it has found equally (such as your reply address).

So, IOW, for bounce message processing you are best to put all your bounce reports messages in the mailing list processing folder (i.e. the one specified under View > Options, Email Processing) and click "Check for New"

I changed BounceDays to 0, yet I don't get the expected results.

All bounces I had this year are in one folder in Outlook, about 25.000 bounces, I copied the last 5.000 to a temp folder so I can test the bounce processing more fast.

So,

- When I use "Get Adresses" to process this folder the counts stills being increased by 1.

- When I use "Check for New" (I created a task to process undeliverable in the same folder) only the bounce count for mine e-mails (the sender) and to Mailer-Daemon@david.lnxserver.org were increased and went to the roof, above 3.000...

I must be doing something wrong.

EDIT: I'm tryin the Check for New again, unchecked to get sender and other adresses and to get only body adresses, let's see...

EDIT2: Nevermind, worked. :) Will take the whole weekend to process the 25000 now... :D

Hi Leonardo

If you look in View > History and Errors what does it say about the processing of those addresses? I expect it will say "within bounce ignore period".

Because a single message can sometimes generate multiple bounce reports MLK will only process one bounce every 7 days (You can change this setting in Hidden Options).
