Posted - Sep 16 2009 : 07:01:19 I am using MLK 7.x and saw you offer an upgrade.
Does v8 inlcude something like a black list for email addresses that must not be sent emails under any circumstance in the future; even if they try subscribing again or if I accidentally reimport such addresses from anywhere at a later time?
A black list that has top priority over all other lists would be nice.
Ideally, you could make it a group and add a feature send to group1, group2 but NOT to group3. then I could use group3 as a blacklist.

FYI, in v9.0 we made some infrastructural changes that allowed double opt-in messages not to be sent till all rules have been checked.

Posted - Sep 21 2009 : 09:27:47 Nigel,
I've been having a similar issue with the list that I maintain within my company. We have about 15 different groups for distribution of information within our area of the government. The web forms allow subscribes, unsubscribes and membership modification.
The web form has a default value (as a hint to the person filling it in) of 'first.last@ontario.ca'. Ontario.ca is our domain.
I frequently get the people who do not read the instructions, and forget to overwrite the address field - resulting in a web form that submits the default value. On the address blocking tab (under options), I put 'first.last@ontario.ca'.
Shouldn't this block the attempted subscription? It doesn't. Albeit the double-opt-in message goes to an invalid mailbox, and the outstanding request eventually expires - but shouldn't it be stopped from processing before the opt-in message goes out?
I'm using 8.62 business edition.

The only way the black list would disappear is if you selected the addresses in the removals list and click Delete.
Note: that this only affects contacts subscribing to your list, i.e. if they are already on your list then enabling the option won't affect them.
However you can enable the "Exclude anyone in the unsubscribers list" and/or add excluded addresses when sending your message by clicking the [To] button.

Posted - Sep 17 2009 : 15:24:10 Correct me if I am wrong but if I clean up history logs (that I do not need) then this sort of "black list" would disappear.
So, this would not be a good solution.
A priority black list feature is essentially important. We have users that are in our sales database but do not want to receive emails under any circumstance for whatever reason. They even warn against legal attacks (that would be valid in Germany).
Users are so allergic regarding "unsolicited" emails nowadays that you really need to cover such precaution aspect.
I do not feel comfortable anymore using MLK if I have to fear that I may send out emails to the wrong people.
It just happened again today and I have no chance to permanently add such users to a negative list. The weirdest thing is that MLK knew that the user has been deleted from all group in the past but did not worry to send out to the recipient again as it seem to got back to the list after a resync with external data. At least a collision check in such case would have be appreciated.

MLK lists all addresses that have been unsubscribed, deleted or bounced under View > History and Errors, Removals. You can prevent these addresses being added back to the group and/or mailing list by enabling the unsubscriber blocking setting under View > Options, Blocking. You can also import addresses into that list and/or specify blocked addresses and domains (also under View > Options, Blocking).
