I currently use v8.55 and when I syncronize my contacts in Outlook 2003 I notice that new entries are inserted in a new group created by MLK which has the same name of the Outlook Category the contact is associated with, but with an underscore in front (eg. the original Outlook Category is ACMEGROUP, the new created one in MLK is _ACMEGROUP).
Notice that the original category is already present in MLK group's list and correctly spelled (no special characters, spaces) but in the MLK contact's groups tab only the above new group is checked. To correct this I have to change manually the belonging group in the newly imported contacts and delete that group in MLK (the one with the underscore in front). At the next syncronization this happens again, and again. Any suggestion on where the problem might come from? Thank you.

I'll need to send you some debug logging info.

This behaviour started after I copied this MLK database of contacts from my laptop (local folder) into a shared folder on my server (so to have it backed up regularly), using the CTRL+SWIFT+i to select the MLK database's related folders. In fact, since I didn't delete the original MLK DB locally, I tried to syncronize it selecting List > Syncronize addressess with Outlook contacts > Import Outlook contacts into MLK and opting to have Outlook categories to be treated as groups. The import went successfully and no new _Group was created in MLK. Any suggestion?

Nigel,

Apparently not, but since there are other three people accessing the same public contacts folder on my Exchange 2003 server I will doublecheck if the Categories list in their Outlook application are correctly spelled and exactly the same on each PC. Thank you.

Hi Riccardo

MLK will replace any "illegal" characters with an underscore when it creates a group name. Are you sure "ACMEGROUP" does not have a space or other character at the front (in Outlook contacts)?
