Hi:

Since updating to the new program I have been having problems maintaining HTML formatting in my messages. I copy the page from the source and paste it into a MailKing list message window. I preview the window and all the formatting of the font color and sizes have been removed. I have tried to change the encoding, as suggested, to no avail. I use the HTML editor selection, which worked in previous editions of the program and it does not work either. In some messages graphics are removed.

Any help would be appreciated. If this problem cannot be fixed I may have to revert back to the previous edition of the program.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi

Please use the recommended method of saving as HTML and then loading that into MLK and send me a copy (to test AT xequte.com). Publisher is not an HTML editor but it should still create a sufficiently good HTML file for sending.

Please also clarify how the message looks when you click the Preview button.

I emailed myself directly from publisher.It has an option to send the page as an email. The document comes out perfect each time when I receive the email.
This is what I’ve tried so far:

Saved the publisher file as an html and mhtml… The formatting gets a little screwed up in translation. When sending the file in MK via outlook, it places nothing in the message box, and sends the images as attachments only.
Sent the publisher file to myself from inside publisher, so that it came through as a complete message and not as an attachment… Then saved the message as an outlook.msg file, which MK can recognise, and sent that… MK places the raw unformatted text in the message box, but sends the actual message complete with images, as an image attachment.
Did a select all and copy on the publisher file… Then right clicked on the message box in MK, and pasted it in… Come close but formatting is still out somewaht. I then sent it via outlook, through MK, and it came out exactly as I sent it.(misaligned)

Hi Michael

That is a character encoding issue. What steps are you taking to forward the message?

Nigel:

Now the problem seems to have resolved itself. There is one more thing I have to wait for next week to see what happens with that one. Another problems that I am encountering is when I either forward a message, formed in Outlook 2007, or from within MLK words from Greek or Hebrew are replaced by question marks. Any suggestions on this?

Thanks,

Michael

What method did you use when you sent the message to yourself using Publisher?

How about when you sent it via MailList King? E.g. did you use the recommended method of saving the Publisher file to HTML and then loading that file into MLK by selecting File > Open on the message sending toolbar?

Did you click the Preview button before sending to ensure it looked OK?

When making a brochure in Publisher and sending it as an email to myself it comes up ok. When I then forward to other recipients it looses pictures and formatting. Reading through an old previous post it suggested changing to Dreameaver or frontpage which is a bit extreme. whats the best way to fix this problem. Using 8.51 with XP and Outlook 2003.

Hi Michael

Please set:

HtmlSourceCodePreservation=True
StripWordLineBreaks=False

Then run MLK and set:

Encoding to "Western European (Windows)"

Then create a debug log:

1. Run MLK
2. Click Shift+Ctrl+D
3. Click "Yes" to the prompt to enable debug logging
4. Reproduce the problem
5. Send me the debug log file:

On Windows Vista:
C:\Users\ <YOUR WINDOWS LOGIN NAME> \AppData\Local\Xequte\MailList King\debuglog.txt

Other Windows Versions:
C:\Program Files\MailList King\debuglog.txt

Nigel:

I tried all of your suggestions but nothing worked.

The settings in the ini file were the opposite of what you told me to set them. I changed them as you instructed but it did not work. Should I change the file settings back to what they were? I also tried the endcoding change and that did not work either.

Hi Michael

Unfortunately i can't reproduce that on our test machines. Can you please:

1. Under Edit > Encoding, change it to "Western European (Windows)" and tell me if it still occurs

2. Open your settings.ini file (Click Ctrl+Shift+I in the main window and choose the settings folder) and check that

HtmlSourceCodePreservation=True

3. In Settings.ini again try setting

StripWordLineBreaks=False

Note: Make sure MLK is closed before you save settings.ini

Nigel:

Now MLK is undoing my html formatting totally and turning them into text based messages even though the rich text format is selected.

Nigel: I was using ver. 8.12.315 and then upgraded to ver. 8.5. I will send you a separate e-mail with the sample text and tell you what I did.

Hi Michael

Is this with v8.50? What version were you using previously that worked?

What is the source of your message content? Can you please send me an example with the steps i need to take to reproduce it.
