Posted - Mar 06 2009 : 03:42:29 Hello,
I wanted to know how much email addresses ending with .COM we have. I used the Filter/Search to do that : "Search: Top Level Domain Is COM" and the results were suprising :
As you can see we have .COM.BR and .COM.AU in the results. Which is not what I wanted.
Then I thought "Maybe MLK is guessing COMmercial Tld for these countries ?" So if I had a .CO.UK email addresses they would have been found in the results.
So to test that assumption I created an email address in .COM.BE. which is not valid. We (in Belgium) don't have that kind of domains like UK or Australia have.
Design for the preview pane of email applications. That means you've got about 500, 600 pixels tops for your email designs. If you think recipients will actually double click an email to view your message in full screen "to appreciate all its glory," send us whatever you're smokin. |

We'll consider that for a later update.

Posted - Mar 09 2009 : 01:28:02 Thanks Nigel.
Why not update the "Top Level Domain" filter in this way :
Is ... exclusive, e.g. .COM and example.com.au is not matched Contains ... inclusive, e.g. .COM and example.com and example.com.au are both matched
That would be sexy. What do you think ?

Posted - Mar 08 2009 : 14:21:18 Hi Julien
It is intended to be an inclusive search, i.e. when searching for .COM it returns all variants of .COM including .COM.AU, etc. If you search for .NZ it returns .CO.NZ, .ORG.NZ, etc.
However I can see that may be contrary to expectation when searching specifically for US TLD's so we will change that for v8.12
