I am trying to send out an e-newsletter. I have an html template and I am inserting images that I have purchased on istock photos, in a JPEG format.
When I send a test email from MLK to myself (I use outlook), the images appear as empty boxes with a cross in the corner, and are not downloadable.
The newsletter template is however downloadable.
I have tried saving the images in different sizes - but still no luck.
Any solutions to this issue? I am using Business Edition v 7.32R |

Good point.
I run in two enviroments. The primary one (my main job) is on an intranet in a trusted environment with 16 or so lists. My other job (as a volunteer) is for a charity in which I run a couple of support lists on the internet. I'll have to re-examine how I'm sending out the messages for the charity to see if I can better obtimize the images (fewer rejects from newly subscribed members).

I agree with your point. Technically it makes a lot more sense to store the images on your site and only link to them in your emails as it will make sending a lot faster (as images only need to be loaded as they are viewed).
The problem is that this technique was widely used by spammers to validate who was opening their emails and thus all the major email products now block the display of linked images by default.

Nigel,
When I see "HMTLM Template" I tend to think external editor, which implies they are using <img src="... and pointing to their local drive(s).
I don't tend to embed images due to size issues. However, its something to keep in mind - as one of my lists is now growing beyond strictly intranet users to intranet/internet users. Since the audience is mixed, they don't have full access to a single location for the images.

Hi
If you link to local images within a message MLK will embed them into the message so they should be visible to recipients.
I expect they are not linked in a standard manner or are not located where the HTML file says they are (though that should generate an error).
If you click the Preview button on the message sending toolbar, do the images display?
Please email me your HTML template file.

When you use an HTML template for an outgoing email, the underlying HTML code typically links the image to a location where it is stored - such as your hard drive, or a public server (your web site perhaps).
If you've created the email on your home computer, then the images will be linked or referring to your hard drive - and anybody receiving the email won't be able to see the images as they won't have access to your hard drive.
You should load the images on a public drive or server, then link them within the message. That way when the person views the email, they will be able to see the images regardless of where they are.

Hi Blanca
The correct way to add images is to use the Insert Image button on the message sending toolbar and browse to a JPEG or GIF image on your computer. You should also click Preview to check everything is OK.
Can you send me a test message. I'll email you the details.

Hello,
I am a new subscriber running into the same problem. However, I am not a computer/software expert and do not understand the terms used. I am trying to send an email about our company with images on the message itself rather than attachments. When I send them to my coworkers as test they do not get any images only small boxes with Xs. Could you walk me through the process?

We did not receive any bugging information.
But Problem solved. The issue was that the header/footer had not been optimised for web (ie "save for web" in Photoshop). Once this had been done. The images showed in Dreamweaver (in design mode) without having to F12. Once imported into MLK - it worked!

I am also having image issues. I need my header and footer to show in our enewsletter.
I coded the template in Dreamweaver and linking to the image locally via <IMG SRC="...>
When I preview the newsletter in Dreamweaver - the header shows. However, when I use at stationary in MaillistKing - the image does not show.
I have tried the following
1. Insert image (in MLK)
2. Using link to hosted image on FTP site
I can get the image to display in hotmail but we need it to display in Outlook.
Please help.
