I tried to find an answer in this forum and under the HELP option but without success. Here is my question: I have many groups in one database. I have individuals who belong to more than one group. I want to send a HTML mailer to one group on one day, and the same HTML mailer to other group on other days. Due to procedural set-up and to group selections, I have to stagger my mailout.

Or, here is another scenario. I have a group with 100 people to whom I sent the mailer yesterday. Today, I added another 30 people to this group. I need to send the same mailer to these 30. Selecting this group, then SEND MAIL will create a job for 130 unique email recipients. Unless I manually delete the 100 who already received the mailer from the present job, they will all receive it again. How can I prevent the same person from getting the same mailer more than once?

I tried to use the "filter" command but it only allows a global filter - i.e. the filter applied to the whole database and I was not able to filter from within a group.

Your help is appreciated!

No, there's not. But it is a good idea for a later update.

Oh, I forgot to ask about this:

Is there a quick way to pick out one individual record, make a duplicate copy of it and then I replace the email/name/phone number fields for the new addition? All the previously entered information in various fields will already be there in the new record.

A feature like this will be useful when I have to enter a new record for another individual who works in the same company, has the same website address, etc. as the one from whom the record is duplicated. I will not need to CREATE A NEW MEMBER and enter all the other contact info then.

Thanks, Nigel! You always seem to have an answer for every question. In case I forget about this nifty feature of delayed sending > view recipients, I will definitely print this out for future reference.

Hi

The exclusions are not evaluated until it generates the send list. If you are worried about it do a scheduled sending (by clicking the small down arrow beside the "Send Message" button) and choose the option not to send until you are ready.

Then display the Outbox in the main MLK window, select the task. click properties and choose "View Recipients".

Thank you for your prompt and effective assistance!

I followed your instruction in a test with one group to whom I sent the mailer out yesterday (n=122). When I checked "Exclude any recipients emailed in the last 7 days", all 122 still appeared in my pre-send view - the Preview Message header still reads "Confirm delivery of message to 122 recipients? (Display Message 1)".

I don't want to send to the group if I am uncertain the exclusion criterion is for sure being applied (although I guess I should trust your advice

There is a number of ways to do it, but the easiest in your situation is to use the option not to send to members who have been sent messages in the last x days:

1. Create message as normal (List>Send Email)
2. Click the [To] button
3. Check the box "Do not send to recipients who have been emailed in the last x days"
4. Specify a number of days that included your last emails
5. Click OK
6. Send your message

Viola, all recipients of your last email(s) will be excluded from this task
