Posted - Apr 27 2009 : 22:24:52 In Options/Other/Back up Options I only see a back-up for only the data base and none for the MLK configuration settings.
Is there a back up option for the configuration settings? |

Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 17:19:16 Thanks Douggg,
It has been around for a while now (over 60 released versions) so it has had some time to mature
Also it helps that we use MailList King extensively ourselves so we are quick to notice any problems (it was originally a purely inhouse tool for managing our own mailing list).

I have to admit this is a well thought out, well designed program.

Posted - Apr 29 2009 : 02:31:37 Yes, that would be correct if you have enabled the option:
"Use a different configuration for each database"
Under View>Options, Other.

Posted - Apr 28 2009 : 21:57:19 I have my DBs in c:\comp1 c:\comp2 and c:\comp3 . I just checked with Ctrl+Shift+I and it appears all the files are contained in c:\comp# and in the subdirectories below.

Posted - Apr 28 2009 : 16:14:27 Hi Doug
To display the two important folders for MailList King (configuration and database), run it and click Ctrl+Shift+I
Copy those folders (don't need the send log folder) to a back up location.
You can restore the database folder anywhere and then use File>Open to locate it.
If you have enabled Unique setttings for each database then your settings need to go in the \Config\ folder of your database folder.
Otherwise they go in:
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\ <YOUR WINDOWS LOGIN NAME> \Local Settings\Application Data\Xequte\MailList King\
Windows Vista: C:\Users\ <YOUR WINDOWS LOGIN NAME> \AppData\Local\Xequte\MailList King\

Posted - Apr 28 2009 : 14:59:30 If I do a drag copy or ZIP DB directory does that have all the config files too? (Or are some config files stored in the PGM directory?)
If I do the copy the DB method, when I restore (copy/unzip) does the directory structure have to be the exactly same? Or can I put it in a new location? Original computer - C:\DB\myfiles Can copy to C:\MLK\DB\myfiles or D:\MLK\DB\myfiles

Posted - Apr 28 2009 : 14:25:35 Hi Doug
The automated backup option is aimed at converting the MLK database to a non-proprietary format. I.e. even if MLK no longer runs and Xequte disappears (never gonna happen ) you still have your contact entries in a format that any database or spreadsheet can understand.
In terms of actually backing up your database and settings, you should include MLK's key folders in your backup schedule.
