I am getting DBISAM Engine Error #8965 and I followed the instructions you gave someone else for this error (downloading repair utility and so forth) and it did not fix it. Help!

Well the particular settings you need to check are:

- SMTP Server Address
- Settings for SMTP Authentication (Username and password if required)
- Port (if it is not the default of 25)

You should also check whether your mail server requires you to download mail before sending (to authenticate).

Please send me screen shots of your settings in Outlook and MLK and I will check them for you.
(To create a screenshot display the program with the problem visible then select PrintScreen (or PrtScr) on the top of your keyboard. Using Microsoft Word or an image editor such as Paint, select Paste. Save the file, if possible as a JPEG if you are using an image editor and send it to us)

It's a pain in the rear to work with my ISP (from past experience). So I am trying to resolve it myself since it was working fine up until recently, and since my regular Outlook e-mail still works fine. The settings I was referring to are in two place, Outlook and MLK. Do the SMTP settings for both have to match in order to work?

Hi Doug

Which particular settings are you referring to?

You might also want to email your ISP and see what details are lacking if you get an "authentication failed" error.

I was just checking to see if there are any setups I have to do in MLK and found in View - Options - Sending Mail that there are SMTP settings there that I am not sure match the ones in my Outlook. Must they match? Could that be the problem?

If that were true, I wouldn't think I would be able to send ANY e-mail from my Outlook and yet, I can send and receive without any problems each day. When I go to Outlook - Tools - E-mail Accounts - View or Change... - Change, all the information appears to be as it should (including username and password).

Hi Doug

This is an error from your ISP. You have not authenticated yourself with the SMTP server before sending. Check with your ISP what is required, e.g. specifying a username and password and/or downloading your mail before sending.

Okay, got that done, but now am having same problem as before:

Send Error!
Sending of message with SMTP failed with the error:
5.7.0 authentication failed

How do I correct this?

Hi Doug

I've just resent it. If you still don't receive it please check your spam folder and/or supply an alternate email address.

Yes, I am registered, but not I did not receive an e-mail update--is that how it would come to me? I also e-mailed you personally on this. Thanks.

Hi

You should get the (free) update to v6.28 by completing the form at:

http://www.xequte.com/support/keyrequest.html

The error you mention is from your ISP's mail server. So check that you have specified the correct username/password for your SMTP server (if required) and/or whether you need to login via POP (e.g. download mail) before sending.

Okay, I followed those steps and it did seem to correct the problem--in that it would allow me to select a list and the list would load into the e-mail I was trying to send.

However a new problem occured. I got a sending error window when I tried to send a message. It happened right after I clicked send it says:

Send Error!
Sending of message with SMTP failed with the error:
5.7.0 authentication failed

I am using version 6.04p and have no unusual characters in the name of the list, just letters and numbers.

Hi

What version of MLK are you using?

Please try repairing again as follows:

1. Run MLK
2. Select File>Optimize Database
3. UNCHECK all options
4. Check the option to repair the database
5. Click OK

Also, are there any unusual characters in the name of the group?

Right after that I get another error that comes up and says:

An error was encountered performing your group selection: SQL Error

Cabrzama
Cabrzama Posted - Sep 10 2009 : 08:19:55
It says:
"An error was encountered filtering your database by the specific group (s): DBISAM Engine Error #8965 Index page buffers corrupt in the table 'mlk_main'

I was trying to "Select a Group" and send an e-mail.

Hi

Can you please give me the full wording of the error. Also, what specifically are you doing in MLK when it occurs?
